Episode coverage later describes the infected turning toward Jackson and the town preparing to defend itself; that account is episode context, not confirmation of what appeared in a particular preview clip.
Which episode is “The Horde Is Coming” about?
It is season 2, episode 2, titled “Through the Valley.” The episode aired April 20, 2025. Its official synopsis reads: “As Abby weighs her options, Jackson Hole prepares for a brewing storm amid growing reports of Infected.” Rotten Tomatoes’ episode listing also gives the longer wording: “As a storm brews in the mountains, the people of Jackson Hole prepare for the worst amid increased sightings of Infected.”
The title phrase “sneak peak” is usually written “sneak peek.” More importantly, the available episode information does not identify a specific preview clip. The horde details below describe the episode as covered after its release, not footage verified in a particular teaser.
Why does the horde threaten Jackson?
In retrospective coverage, Sky’s episode explainer describes infected changing course toward Jackson after a disturbance to cordyceps tendrils. The town prepares a defense as the threat grows, and a Bloater—an especially formidable infected—puts those defenses at risk. The horde is therefore more than a distant warning: it brings the danger to Jackson and forces the community to respond.

How does the episode relate to the game?
“Through the Valley” draws on The Last of Us Part II, though a television adaptation does not create suspense in the same way as an interactive game. A game can make a player move through danger and experience its timing firsthand; a television episode controls what viewers see and when they see it. Episode reference material notes that some sequences closely adapt the game, while the details and sequencing should be considered in the context of the show.

In an official Naughty Dog discussion of season one—not this season 2 episode—game director Neil Druckmann described keeping infected partly out of focus to make their presence more unsettling: “We’re going to see glimpses of them, or you’re going to see them in a reflection in the glass. Even at the end of that episode, when that horde [of Infected] is coming towards Tess, we keep them out of focus because it was creepier not to see them, to just feel their presence.” That comment offers insight into one adaptation choice, but it should not be mistaken for commentary on the horde sequence in “Through the Valley.” Naughty Dog’s discussion provides the season-one context.
