Exclude voice performances and the answer changes. Because the available public lists use different scopes and gross methods—and do not establish a complete, consistent nominal-gross top ten—the most accurate ranking is to show what can be verified and explain what a definitive list would require.
Why there is no settled top ten in the available figures
A “highest-grossing” ranking needs a defined set of films and a consistent measure. It can mean theatrical acting credits only, or include voice roles; it can restrict eligibility to films released in North American theaters, or take a wider view; and it can rank original reported grosses or inflation-adjusted figures. Those choices can alter both the titles and their order.
The available filmography from Ultimate Movie Rankings excludes television and films not released in North American theaters, labels Keaton’s Finding Dory role “Voice Only,” and ranks films by adjusted worldwide gross. A separate list from What’s After the Movie gives rounded worldwide totals but omits Finding Dory. Neither provides a complete, audited top ten of nominal worldwide grosses for all theatrical acting credits.
For that reason, the titles below are not presented as a definitive ten-film ranking. The published figures establish two important reference points and show why a ranked list must identify its source and counting rules.

Two reported worldwide grosses to anchor the comparison
| Film | Keaton credit | Reported worldwide gross | Source and basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Finding Dory (2016) | Voice role | $1,025,006,125 | The Numbers; reported worldwide box office |
| Something’s Gotta Give (2003) | Erica Barry | $266,685,242 | The Numbers; reported worldwide box office |
| Something’s Gotta Give (2003) | Erica Barry | $265 million | What’s After the Movie; rounded figure |
The figures for Something’s Gotta Give illustrate why totals should not be blended: one source reports a specific dollar amount, while the other rounds to the nearest million. These are box-office grosses, not profits, and the sources do not establish that every title in their lists uses a common accounting treatment.
How the ranking changes when voice roles count
Ultimate Movie Rankings identifies Keaton’s Finding Dory credit as voice-only. The Numbers reports the film’s worldwide gross at more than $1 billion. A list that excludes voice roles therefore leaves out a major part of the answer to the broad question “What is Diane Keaton’s highest-grossing movie?” Conversely, a ranking restricted to on-screen acting credits should say so plainly rather than implying it covers every theatrical performance.
Rank #2
Ultimate Movie Rankings’ adjusted-worldwide table places The Godfather and Finding Dory first and second, followed by The Godfather: Part II, Something’s Gotta Give, The First Wives Club, and The Godfather: Part III. These are adjusted values from that source, not nominal grosses, so they should not be combined with unadjusted totals to create a new ranking.
What a reliable top-ten list needs to disclose
- Credit scope: whether voice performances such as Keaton’s in Finding Dory count, and whether the list covers acting credits rather than all film-related work.
- Theatrical eligibility: whether a film must have been released in North American theaters or whether other theatrical releases qualify.
- Gross basis: whether totals are nominal reported grosses or adjusted for inflation. Those are different measures and should have separate rankings.
- Source and date: identify the source for each total and when it was checked, since public figures and their presentation may vary.
- Precision: distinguish exact reported totals from rounded estimates, and do not present rounded numbers as exact.
Public verification also has limits. Box Office Mojo’s Diane Keaton person page says person-level box-office data is available exclusively on IMDbPro. That makes the public page insufficient on its own to verify a comprehensive person-level ranking.

So which Diane Keaton movie made the most?
Among the figures established here, Finding Dory is the clear high-grossing title when Keaton’s voice role is included: The Numbers reports $1,025,006,125 worldwide. That does not make the available evidence a complete nominal-gross top ten. For an on-screen-only ranking—or a definitive list across every theatrical acting credit—the eligibility rules and a consistent film-by-film dataset must be specified first.
