What these box-office figures do—and do not—show
Worldwide gross is the reported sum of domestic and international theatrical box office where those subtotals are listed. It is not a measure of profit: it does not subtract production, marketing, distribution or exhibitor costs. These are nominal U.S.-dollar figures, not adjusted for inflation, and gross alone cannot establish whether a film was profitable.

Box-office databases can report different totals for the same film. For example, the available figures for Blade Runner 2049 differ between databases. This ranking uses The Numbers’ $259,668,585 franchise-table figure rather than combining totals from different sources. The Numbers’ current individual Dune: Part Two page and its matching franchise listing report $715,206,195; an older page variant surfaced a different total, so it is not mixed into this list.
