What is The Gorge about?
Apple’s official synopsis describes two highly trained operatives appointed to guard towers on opposite sides of a vast, highly classified gorge. Their assignment is to protect the world from an undisclosed evil within it. While stationed apart, they form a connection; when the danger becomes clear, they must work together.

The official premise does not reveal what lurks in the gorge, so going in with as little plot detail as possible preserves the film’s intended uncertainty.

Apple categorizes The Gorge as a thriller. The star-crossed-love framing is an interpretation of its premise: two people meet under extraordinary circumstances, fall into a bond across a divide, and face a threat that forces them together. The Associated Press also described it as a genre-blending thriller, while calling it “preposterous” and “videogame-like”—a review’s critical characterization, not a neutral description of the film.
