The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration is a four-disc Blu-ray collection, cataloged by Paramount Japan as product PBWS1002. It contains the three Godfather films and a bonus disc. It is distinct from Paramount’s later 50th-anniversary 4K UHD trilogy.
What is The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration Blu-ray?
It is a Blu-ray box set of The Godfather, The Godfather Part II and The Godfather Part III, plus a disc of extras. Paramount Japan’s catalog identifies the collection as PBWS1002 and lists four discs in total: one for each feature and one bonus disc. Its specifications describe the Japan-market product and should not be assumed to apply to every regional pressing. Paramount Japan’s catalog entry provides the product details.
A 2008 release announcement said the collection was scheduled for September 23, 2008, and described the restoration as overseen by Francis Ford Coppola. That date and description come from secondary coverage, not the product catalog. The 2008 announcement reported the schedule.

How does it differ from the 50th-anniversary 4K set?
The two releases have different formats and packaging. Paramount describes its later The Godfather 50th Trilogy as restored and remastered in 4K UHD with HDR-10 and Dolby Vision. It includes The Godfather, The Godfather Part II and Mario Puzo’s The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. Paramount says its bonus discs include theatrical and 1991 cuts of Part III, along with a special-features Blu-ray containing new and legacy material. Paramount’s 50th Trilogy page describes that edition.
The available product descriptions do not provide a complete, item-by-item comparison of the bonus material in the two boxes. In particular, do not assume that the Coppola Restoration’s listed Part III is the same cut or that its extras match the later trilogy’s contents.

What to check before choosing an edition
- Edition name: Confirm whether a listing is for The Coppola Restoration Blu-ray or The Godfather 50th Trilogy 4K UHD set.
- Format and playback: Make sure your player supports the format, and check regional compatibility. The cited catalog information does not establish the Japanese box’s region coding.
- Part III version: Check which cut or cuts are included. Paramount specifically lists theatrical and 1991 cuts for the 50th Trilogy; the Japanese Coppola Restoration catalog does not identify its Part III cut in the information described above.
- Extras and language options: Compare the seller’s exact product listing with the relevant regional edition. The Japanese catalog’s extras, English stereo audio and English/Japanese subtitles are not verified as universal specifications.
- Listing status: Current stock and pricing are not established by these catalog pages, so confirm them with the seller before ordering.
