The Game Awards 2025 took place on December 11, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won Game of the Year. That makes “predicting every winner” a retrospective question now, not a live forecast. The six nominees and selected verified results are clear, but the available records here do not establish a complete winners list or a trustworthy pre-show consensus. This guide separates confirmed outcomes from what a defensible prediction could have considered.
Who won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025?
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won Game of the Year, according to GamesRadar+’s contemporaneous event coverage. The nominees were:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
- Donkey Kong Bananza
- Hades 2
- Hollow Knight: Silksong
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
The Game Awards’ nominee announcement and contemporaneous coverage establish this field. The eventual result is not evidence that the winner was an obvious pre-show pick; a forecast should be judged against information and picks recorded before the ceremony.

GamesRadar+’s live coverage records the following outcomes. This is a selection of verified examples, not a complete official winners table.

How the voting process affects a prediction
The Game Awards’ currently accessible jury page says nominations are selected by “OVER 100 leading media and influencer outlets across the globe.” That describes the broad jury structure on the current site, which is labeled for the 2026 cycle; it does not verify the precise jury roster for 2025. The same page says accessibility nominees are selected by a specialist jury of accessibility experts. The Game Awards voting-jury page
The official FAQ search excerpt describes winners as determined by a blend of 90% voting jury and 10% public fan voting. The captured FAQ version is not confirmed as the 2025 rules snapshot, so those shares should be treated as the FAQ’s surfaced rules language rather than a definitive year-specific statistic. That distinction matters when forecasting: a fan poll alone cannot establish how a jury-weighted category will go. By contrast, The Game Awards’ Players’ Voice page describes that category as 100% fan-voted, making community mobilization more directly relevant there. Event coverage reports Wuthering Waves as the 2025 winner. The Game Awards Players’ Voice
What a sound pre-show prediction would need
A useful prediction is a reasoned category-by-category call, not a confident list without a stated basis. It should consider the category’s fit, the work being judged, evidence available before the show, and the voting structure. For jury/public-blended categories, it should not present fan enthusiasm as a complete proxy for the result; for Players’ Voice, fan participation is central. This is a way to reason about the process, not a validated forecasting model.

No reliable, dated consensus prediction poll or complete public forecast record is established here. Without a timestamped pre-show list and a complete, sourced final results list, it is not possible to responsibly claim a prediction hit rate or say that a particular nominee was the consensus favorite.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why this is a retrospective, not a live prediction list
The ceremony has already happened, so present-tense forecasts would mislead readers. The nominee field and selected results support a retrospective account, but the captured coverage does not provide a clean, complete official winners table. For that reason, the outcomes above are explicitly limited to those confirmed examples rather than being presented as every category winner. The winner’s post-show content announcement is not evidence for why the game won.
