A January 19, 2024 report by TheWrap said the decision to end the series came from star and executive producer Kaley Cuoco. She said she had always envisioned it as a limited series.
Was The Flight Attendant canceled?
The series is over after its second season. Although the news is often described as a cancellation, TheWrap attributed the decision to Cuoco rather than citing a public Max cancellation announcement. Cuoco’s statement described the ending as consistent with her original creative vision.
Why did the show end after two seasons?
Cuoco told TheWrap: “I always envisioned ‘TFA’ as a limited series and thanks to an incredible creative team, we were able to deliver two thrilling seasons.” That is her stated explanation; the available reporting does not establish a separate corporate business rationale from Max.
How did the series get a second season?
HBO Max announced the season-two renewal on December 18, 2020, while the first season was still airing. Warner Bros. Discovery said the eight-episode first season had premiered on November 26 and that its finale aired December 17. The company also described it as HBO Max’s “#1 series overall during its run”—the studio’s characterization, not an independently supplied audience measurement.
