The mid-credits scene brings Doctor Doom into the film’s story, while the final scene is a playful animated theme sequence for the in-universe The Fantastic Four Power Hour.
What happens in the mid-credits scene?
Four years after the Fantastic Four defeat Galactus, Sue Storm is reading with her son, Franklin. She steps away to find another book. When she returns, a cloaked figure is beside Franklin, holding a metal mask. Entertainment coverage identifies the figure as Doctor Doom. The scene establishes Doom’s presence in this story and places him with Franklin, but it does not explain his full intentions or confirm what he will do next. Elle’s scene explanation

What happens in the final credits scene?
The last scene is an animated theme sequence for The Fantastic Four Power Hour, a fictional children’s cartoon starring the team. Marvel identifies the clip as the in-universe show, and TechRadar describes it as the cartoon’s title sequence. It is a lighthearted coda, not a second confirmed plot reveal. How the two scenes differ
| Scene | Placement | What it shows | Narrative role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Doctor Doom and Franklin | Mid-credits | A cloaked Doom, holding a metal mask, appears beside Franklin four years after Galactus’s defeat. | A consequential story hook; Doom’s plan is not explained. |
| The Fantastic Four Power Hour | After the credits | An animated theme sequence for the team’s fictional cartoon. | A playful in-universe flourish, without a confirmed additional plot reveal. |
Does the Doom scene confirm what happens next?
No. It shows Doom beside Franklin, but it does not establish that he kidnaps Franklin, reveal a complete plan, or spell out the plot of a later film. The Fantastic Four are presented as living in a separate universe identified as 828 in ABC News coverage; the credits scenes do not settle how their world will connect to the wider MCU. - Set against the backdrop of a ?60s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel?s First Family faces a daunting challenge. Forced to balance being heroes with their family bond, they must defend Earth from a space god and his enigmatic herald.
Is it worth staying through the credits?
If you want the film’s most significant closing story beat, stay for the mid-credits scene: it introduces Doctor Doom into the film’s world. Stay to the very end for the cartoon sequence, which offers a lighter payoff. Before the film’s release, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said, “I think most people do, they know it’s a Marvel movie, they know they will be rewarded for staying in their seats after the film’s over.” ABC News, July 24, 2025
