The Dancing Martian “Pritam” is a documentary by filmmaker Soumen D about Pritam Dhar, whose dance and music interests are central to the story. AIMA News reports that the film’s teaser was unveiled at a Kolkata event on 10 October 2026. The coverage describes a film about artistic expression, family support and inclusion, but does not provide a public teaser link or a confirmed release date.
What is The Dancing Martian “Pritam” about?
AIMA News describes the documentary as a portrait of Pritam Dhar, a 32-year-old man with Down syndrome, and his interests in dance and music. Its coverage places Pritam’s individuality and artistic expression alongside his relationship with his father, Prabir Dhar, reported to be 75.
The reports frame the film’s purpose as encouraging awareness, acceptance, dignity and equal opportunities, while challenging stereotypes about Down syndrome and disability. AIMA News presents the film’s central message this way: “A person’s identity is never defined by disability alone. Every individual deserves the opportunity to express their talent, pursue their dreams and live with dignity.” The outlet does not identify a speaker for that wording.
Who is Pritam Dhar?
The AIMA News reports identify Pritam as a dancer with experience performing at Kolkata venues including Sisir Mancha, Netaji Indoor Stadium, Okakura Bhavan, Rabindra Sadan and Mohit Mancha. They also say he has achieved the title “Sangeet Bivakar” in Rabindra Nritya, Bharatanatyam and Nazrul Nritya.
