The song became a signature of Gil’s repertoire, making it a useful way into a career whose recorded collaborations connected established Brazilian artists with newer pop performers.
“Sinais de Fogo” connected her debut to a lasting hit
Released in 2003, Prêt-à-Porter introduced Gil as a recording artist. CNN Brasil identifies “Sinais de Fogo,” with Ana Carolina, among the album’s songs, and Billboard Brasil describes it as a signature song that remained in Gil’s setlists. The pairing belongs to the debut era, but its continued presence in performance gave the recording a life beyond its original release (CNN Brasil; Billboard Brasil).
iG Gente also reports that the album included Caetano Veloso and Jorge Ben Jor. Those album associations should not be collapsed into a claim that every artist on the record shared a formal duet credit: the available accounts do not establish each person’s precise role on every track (iG Gente).
From early influences to a more authorial mid-career period
Backing vocals for Gal Costa
Before her debut, Gil reportedly worked as a backing vocalist for Gal Costa in the 1990s. iG describes Costa as her artistic godmother. This is an account of an earlier professional role, not the same kind of evidence as a named feature on a later recording, and it helps place Gil’s career in a musical lineage without treating every association as a duet credit (iG Gente).

Sou Como Sou (2012)
iG identifies Ana Carolina, Thiaguinho, and Gilberto Gil among the participants associated with Sou Como Sou. The group illustrates the range of Gil’s mid-career partnerships, from a collaborator linked to her debut-era signature song to artists from other corners of Brazilian popular music. The source does not provide a complete track-by-track breakdown of each participant’s role (iG Gente).
Todas as Cores brought a wide mix of collaborators together
Released in 2017, Todas as Cores is cataloged by IMMuB as a Sony Music CD. iG names Anitta, Pabllo Vittar, Gal Costa, Ivete Sangalo, and Francisco Gil among its participants. That combination makes the album a particularly clear listening entry point for hearing how Gil’s collaborations crossed generations and contemporary pop scenes. The catalog establishes the album’s format and label; it does not, on its own, settle every contributor’s exact role on every track (IMMuB; iG Gente).

Some specific recordings have clearer descriptions in IMMuB’s catalog: “Decote” is listed featuring Pabllo Vittar (2017), and “Só o Amor” is listed with Gloria Groove (2019). These entries are more precise anchors than a broad list of names because they tie collaborators to identifiable recordings (IMMuB).
Later singles extended the collaborations into 2024
Gil’s collaborations continued in later releases, including recordings that put her alongside artists from distinct generations. IMMuB lists “Na Batucada” with Thiago Pantaleão (2024) and “Disritmia / Ex-Amor” with Martinho da Vila (2024). One pairs Gil with a contemporary performer; the other connects her to a veteran figure in Brazilian samba. Both examples show the span of the partnerships without implying that the available catalog is a complete history of every late-career credit (IMMuB).

Billboard Brasil’s retrospective also names collaborators across her discography including Kynnie, Banda Uó, Titãs, Duda Beat, César Menotti e Fabiano, Jorge Aragão, Pabllo Vittar, Marília Mendonça, and Thiago Pantaleão. Because a broad retrospective list does not specify the recording or role for every name, these are best understood as reported associations rather than a uniform set of featured-duet credits (Billboard Brasil).

- Start with “Sinais de Fogo” on Prêt-à-Porter (2003) for the debut-era collaboration with Ana Carolina and a song later associated with Gil’s setlists.
- Move to Sou Como Sou (2012) for the mid-career album context and its reported participants, including Ana Carolina, Thiaguinho, and Gilberto Gil.
- Try Todas as Cores (2017) for a concentrated range of reported contributors, then seek out the individually cataloged “Decote” featuring Pabllo Vittar.
- Continue to “Só o Amor” with Gloria Groove (2019) and the 2024 entries “Na Batucada” with Thiago Pantaleão and “Disritmia / Ex-Amor” with Martinho da Vila.
IMMuB’s catalog and the retrospective accounts provide selected examples, not an independently reconciled, exhaustive track-by-track credit history. Exact roles, session credits, and release dates are not established for every association, so the distinction between a named recording credit, album participation, reported live presence, and backing-vocal work matters.
