Chuck E. Cheese’s animatronic band is being phased out of ordinary locations, but it has not disappeared everywhere. The company’s current FAQ lists six legacy locations preserving animatronics and historical memorabilia. That does not mean every site has a complete band performing on a current schedule: check with the location before making a special trip.
Are the Chuck E. Cheese animatronics gone?
No. The chain has shifted its entertainment toward live experiences, while retaining animatronics at a small number of legacy locations. Chuck E. Cheese says the move toward live entertainment began in 1998 and evolved over 25 years in its official FAQ. The company’s current FAQ lists six locations where animatronics and historical memorabilia are preserved.
“Breaking up” describes the broad change, not a single announced final show at every restaurant. The official six-location list establishes preservation, not that each site retains a complete, functioning band or offers performances now.
Where can I still see the Chuck E. Cheese animatronics?
Chuck E. Cheese’s current official list names these six legacy locations:
#1 Best Overall
- Two Stickers, Twice the Fun — This value 2 pack includes two 5 inch stickers, so you can decorate two of your favorite items or share one with a fellow foodie. Perfect for matching your laptop and water bottle, or splitting the pair with a friend.
- Built to Last, Indoors or Out — Both decals are printed on premium 6 mil vinyl and made to be waterproof, weatherproof, and UV resistant, so the colors stay sharp and the design won't crack, peel, or fade through sun, rain, and daily wear.
- Sticks Strong, Removes Clean — A strong, reliable adhesive holds firm on smooth surfaces, while smooth, residue-free removal lets you reposition or take each sticker off without the sticky mess. Great for cars, laptops, tumblers, water bottles, helmets, and windows.
- A Gift That Always Lands — An easy, affordable pick for birthdays, stocking stuffers, party favors, or just because. Perfect for foodies, students, gamers, and collectors who love adding character to laptops, notebooks, and water bottles.
- Proudly Made in the USA — Each decal is professionally printed in the USA with quality materials and crisp detail, giving you a durable, premium sticker you can trust to look great long after it's applied.
- Northridge, California
- Nanuet, New York
- Hicksville, New York
- Charlotte, North Carolina
- Springfield, Illinois
- Willowdale, Ontario
The company does not specify in that list exactly what is preserved at each site or provide a site-by-site current show schedule. Before traveling, contact the specific restaurant to ask whether animatronics are on display, whether a band performs, and when any show is scheduled. The list is in the Chuck E. Cheese FAQ.
Is there still a full Chuck E. Cheese band anywhere?
Northridge’s announced residency
In November 2023, Chuck E. Cheese announced Northridge as the permanent residency for Munch’s Make Believe Band. The announcement said the band would perform there daily. That records the company’s intention at the time; it is not confirmation of today’s schedule or of the current condition of the full band. Call the location before visiting. Other legacy locations
The current FAQ includes five other sites in its preservation list, but does not establish that any has a complete performing band. A preserved character, a display, and a scheduled live animatronic show are different things; ask the location which applies.
Why did Chuck E. Cheese get rid of the band?
The company describes the change as a transition toward live entertainment, beginning in 1998 and developing over the following 25 years. Its public materials cited here do not provide a specific financial, maintenance, or attendance reason for retiring animatronic bands from most locations. It would be speculation to assign one.
Rank #3
- Chuck E.
- Limited Edition
- 8 inches tall
- Brand New in Original Box
The band belongs to a longer history of restaurant entertainment. Chuck E. Cheese says its predecessor, Pizza Time Theatre, opened in San Jose in 1977, combining pizza, an arcade, and animatronic entertainment. ShowBiz Pizza merged with Chuck E. Cheese in 1985; locations were rebranded through Concept Unification in the early 1990s. ShowBiz’s Rock-afire Explosion is part of that history, but it is not Munch’s Make Believe Band. The company’s official history and FAQ provide the background.
What is Chuck’s Arcade, and does it have a performing band?
Chuck’s Arcade, launched June 30, 2025, is a separate arcade concept aimed at adults and lifelong fans. Chuck E. Cheese described its animatronic character as a nostalgic display—not a performing band—and said retro merchandise would be available at select locations. The launch announcement does not establish that Chuck’s Arcade recreates a restaurant band show. See the Chuck’s Arcade announcement and the company’s related description.

Can you still buy Munch’s Make Believe Band collectibles?
Chuck E. Cheese’s newsroom has listed a Munch’s Make Believe Band bobblehead debut, and the company FAQ says its licensed online shop sells apparel, books, toys, and collectibles. Those references establish a route to licensed merchandise, not that a particular item is currently in stock. Check the shop’s current catalog before buying; no current Amazon listing or availability is established here. The relevant pages are the newsroom listing and official FAQ.
