The U.S. Shameless ran for 11 seasons, following the Gallagher family and the people around them on Chicago’s South Side. Emmy Rossum has returned to television in Furious, Steve Howey was announced for Ransom Canyon season 2, and Jeremy Allen White continues to earn major awards attention for The Bear. Here’s what is established about the cast’s recent work, with updates dated to their sources.
Where are the Shameless actors now?
The updates below distinguish released work and awards records from casting announcements and reunion appearances. Dates matter: a reported announcement is not proof that a project has since been released, and a reunion does not mean the show has returned.
Emmy Rossum (Fiona Gallagher)
Rossum played Fiona through season 9. EL PAÍS reported on 7 September 2026 that she returned to television that summer in Furious, an eight-episode Hulu series in which she plays FBI agent Alice Black. The article says Rossum originated the project and worked with showrunner Liz Meriwether. When it was published, episodes were still rolling out and no second season had been announced; that describes the status reported on that date, not a later renewal check. EL PAÍS’s 7 September 2026 report also describes her Shameless role as spanning 110 episodes.
Rossum and William H. Macy attended the “Still Shameless” event at the Televerse festival in Los Angeles on 15 August 2026, according to the same newspaper. It was a reunion appearance, not an announcement that they were reprising Fiona and Frank. The article also reports Rossum’s interest in developing stories about contemporary women and working with women through her production company.

Steve Howey (Kevin Ball)
Netflix Tudum reported on 6 November 2025 that Howey had been announced as Levi, Staten Kirkland’s half-brother, for season 2 of Ransom Canyon. This is a casting announcement; the cited report does not establish the season’s release or availability. Read Netflix Tudum’s announcement and Howey watch-party feature.
Jeremy Allen White (Lip Gallagher)
White’s recent recognition includes The Bear. The Television Academy record lists him as the winner of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2023 and 2024, and a nominee in 2025. These are award results and nomination records, not a complete account of his current projects. See his Television Academy awards and nominations record.
What was Shameless about, and who was in the cast?
The U.S. Shameless was an 11-season dramatic comedy centered on the Gallagher family and its friends and neighbors. Netflix Tudum identifies the core cast as Emmy Rossum as Fiona, William H. Macy as Frank, Jeremy Allen White as Lip, Cameron Monaghan as Ian, Ethan Cutkosky as Carl, Emma Kenney as Debbie, Christian Isaiah as Liam, Steve Howey as Kevin, and Shanola Hampton as Veronica; Noel Fisher is also among the co-stars. Netflix Tudum’s series and cast overview and Showtime’s final-season announcement provide the cast context.

The sources cited here confirm the principal ensemble, but do not establish fresh individual career updates for William H. Macy, Cameron Monaghan, Ethan Cutkosky, Emma Kenney, Shanola Hampton, Noel Fisher, or Christian Isaiah. That distinction is more useful than presenting an older cast roundup as if it were current: without a dated, reliable update, their present work should not be inferred from their Shameless roles.
