Most of the original CSI: Crime Scene Investigation cast has kept working since the Las Vegas crime lab drama ended in 2015. Several actors returned to the franchise for CSI: Vegas, while others moved into film, television series and guest roles. As of October 2026, the most recent broad cast-career roundup we could verify is an April 22, 2026 AOL/Entertainment Weekly retrospective, and it does not confirm a new 2026 project for every performer. Read the credits below as a dated snapshot, not a statement of who is currently employed.
The series and its run
The original show followed Las Vegas investigators who use physical evidence to solve murders. According to the Television Academy’s series overview, it premiered on October 6, 2000, concluded on September 27, 2015, and ran for 15 seasons. Those are series-history facts. The overview does not supply a current audience or ratings figure, so none is cited here.

Cast members who returned for CSI: Vegas
The franchise continued with CSI: Vegas, which Paramount’s official press material describes as a sequel. Its first season brought back William Petersen, Jorja Fox and Wallace Langham from the original cast, and the table below lists the other original-series actors whose returns the April 2026 retrospective reports.
| Actor | Original role | Return to CSI: Vegas (as reported) |
|---|---|---|
| William Petersen | Gil Grissom | Reprised Grissom in the first season (2021). He had stepped down from leading the original show after nine seasons but stayed on as executive producer, and he returned for the 2015 finale. |
| Marg Helgenberger | Catherine Willows | Returned to the role in 2022. |
| Jorja Fox | Sara Sidle | Reprised Sara in the first season. |
| Wallace Langham | David Hodges | Returned in the first season. |
| Eric Szmanda | Greg Sanders | Returned as Greg in season two (2023). |
| Paul Guilfoyle | Jim Brass | Returned in the franchise; the retrospective does not give a season for this return. |
Later work outside the franchise
For the cast members who did not return to CSI: Vegas, and for the later credits of those who did, the retrospective lists the following. Dates are shown only where the source gives them.

How to read a “where are they now” credit
A credit list is a record of reported work, not a status report. Keep these points in mind when you read the table above:
- The latest listed credit is not a retirement notice. Nothing in the retrospective says that any actor has stopped working, and it does not establish that any of them is currently attached to a production.
- Check the date before you trust the status. The April 2026 retrospective is a secondary entertainment source, and it reflects what was reported up to its publication. Later work may exist that it does not cover.
- Franchise returns and outside work are different kinds of news. A reprised role in CSI: Vegas confirms a connection to the franchise. A film or guest appearance confirms only that single credit.
Robert David Hall and the morgue
Robert David Hall is the cast member whose later status is least clear from the sources. He is remembered for playing the coroner, and the April 2026 retrospective includes a quotation from a 2015 Entertainment Weekly interview in which he said, “I fought for 15 years to get out of the morgue.” The same account quotes him describing the job of his character: “My job was to pull the bullet out of the ass and say, ‘They went that-a-way.'” The retrospective does not verify a current production for Hall, so it is not accurate to say that he has retired, and it is equally unsupported to say that he is working.

Watching the original series
Paramount+ carries an official page for the original series that confirms the show’s identity and cast listing. Streaming access depends on territory and on the current terms of the service, so check whether the series is available where you live before you plan a rewatch. For a physical copy, the sources we reviewed confirm the completed series but do not identify a specific DVD edition, its contents, its bonus features or whether it is in stock. Confirm those details on the seller’s page before buying.
For readers who want to follow a particular actor, the most useful starting point is CSI: Vegas, which provides the clearest recent evidence of who has returned to the franchise. The later credits in the table above show where each actor has gone since, but they should be read as dated records rather than a current résumé.
