On the U.S. JustWatch TV chart checked October 8, 2026, East of Eden led the list, followed by Lanterns and Ted Lasso. That chart tracks user activity—not total viewers or viewing minutes—and the available evidence does not verify ten titles under one consistent measure. Here are the leaders and other dated, service-specific picks, with the basis for each made clear.
What “biggest” means this week
Popularity rankings depend on who measures them and what they count. JustWatch’s U.S. chart, checked October 8, 2026, draws on activity such as streaming-offer clicks, watchlist additions, and marking titles as seen. It offers 24-hour, 7-day, and 30-day views and updates daily. The page says its charts are powered by more than 50 million monthly users and cover 140 countries and 4,500 streaming services. These figures describe the chart’s stated reach; they do not make its ranking a count of people who watched a series.
Nielsen provides a different U.S. lens: its streaming charts track viewing through television, while its linear chart ranks programs by total viewers using Big Data + Panel measurement. Nielsen also notes that provider inclusion depends on program-level data available in its reporting systems. Those measures should not be combined with JustWatch activity into one ranking without a shared method. See the JustWatch U.S. TV chart and Nielsen’s Top 10 charts.
The dated U.S. chart leaders

Why a chart leader may not stay there
A current peak is not the same thing as sustained popularity. In a September 8, 2026 analysis of Reelgood’s U.S. weekly overall chart, covering 79 weeks from January 2025 to early July 2026, David Markowitz reported that 59 of 69 number-one reigns lasted exactly one week and no title stayed at number one for three consecutive weeks. Markowitz wrote, “The #1 spot went to whatever launched that week; the rest of the chart is where demand actually accumulated.” That finding concerns Reelgood’s chart and dataset, not all TV viewing. - Want a period drama? East of Eden was the JustWatch U.S. chart leader on October 8 and a Netflix pick in Tom’s Guide’s October 6 roundup; the latter describes it as a seven-part period drama.
- Looking for a superhero series? Lanterns was second on the same JustWatch chart, which listed HBO Max.
- Prefer a comedy, or want a physical copy? Ted Lasso ranked third on that chart. JustWatch listed Apple TV and Amazon DVD/Blu-ray; the listing establishes formats, not current disc inventory.
- Want a service-specific shortlist? Use the Netflix or Prime Video roundup for its stated date and U.S. service rather than treating it as a cross-platform ranking.
For a documentary-focused watchlist, these chart positions are a discovery signal, not a judgment about documentary quality or subject matter. Check a service’s current catalog and the chart’s date before choosing.
