The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode’s official calendar ran from September 28 through October 6, 2026, for the womenswear collections: FHCM’s Paris Fashion Week calendar. Vogue’s July schedule preview counted 68 shows and 33 presentations in the ready-to-wear calendar: Vogue’s schedule preview.
What stood out across the season
Coverage of the shows pointed to recurring, but not universal, ideas: skirts, lingerie-inspired dressing, lighter and more transparent materials, romantic details, vivid color, statement shoes, and couture techniques brought to everyday clothes. Vogue’s recap also noted how designers responded to the desire for lighter dressing; Louis Vuitton designer Nicolas Ghesquière described the engineering behind extremely light clothes as complex. Saint Laurent: gold against a night-sky runway
Saint Laurent supplied one of the season’s clearest combinations of clothes and staging. The show used a glossy black outdoor catwalk with the Eiffel Tower behind it and chandeliers overhead. Those elements framed the collection, but the gold was in the clothes too: Associated Press described gold running through the collection, while Vogue Arabia reported metallic Sahariennes and trench coats, gilt brocades, and metallic lace.

Dior: familiar shapes, made more fluid
At Dior, Jonathan Anderson revisited recognizable house forms but changed their weight and movement. Vogue Arabia reported Bar jackets and full skirts made in chiffon and sheer printed fabrics, alongside layered circle skirts, pleats, pastel florals, shirting, pajama-inspired pieces, and khaki. Monocle likewise highlighted fluid, transparent tailoring, hand-cut petal details, and familiar silhouettes shown in motion.
That combination is the point: the reference to Dior’s established shapes remained legible, while lighter, more transparent materials softened their outline. Dries Van Noten and Valentino: skirts as the focal point
Skirts were a recurring styling anchor in Vogue’s Paris recap, with Dries Van Noten and Valentino among its cited examples. At Valentino, the sharpest contrast was an elaborate skirt paired with a plaid shirt: ornament below, a familiar casual check above. That pairing makes the styling more specific than a broad claim that skirts were simply “in.” Vogue also pointed to skirts across Paris, not as a feature of every collection. Vogue’s season recap.
Chloé: rainwear softened by movement
Chloé’s rainwear played with the contrast between protective material and draped styling. Monocle singled out multicolored raincoats worn with sou’wester hats that fell into shawls. Stiff vinyl or transparent PVC supplied the rainwear’s visual firmness; the shawl-like drape introduced movement and a softer line.

Miu Miu mixed sportswear with pieces that changed its context. The combinations work through contrast: a gym reference alongside a tailored jacket, a pleated skirt, or a dressier shoe. They are runway styling ideas, not evidence that every piece is intended as conventional activewear. Monocle; Vogue.
Torishéju: sculptural jackets and off-kilter pattern
Torishéju Dumi’s collection, titled “Panem et Circenses,” brought sculptural tailoring into a mix of shapes and prints. Monocle reported double-breasted, bar, and hourglass jackets, as well as blousons with Peter Pan collars and pagoda shoulders. Leopard print appeared alongside romantic florals, a pairing that kept the collection from resolving into either strict tailoring or straightforward prettiness.

Lingerie references, styled in different ways
Lingerie-inspired dressing extended beyond Miu Miu’s sporty combinations. Vogue reported structured bras and high-cut swimsuits at Tom Ford, cone-bra references at Jean Paul Gaultier, bras and corsets at Balmain, and a lingerie-house collaboration at Ester Manas. Associated Press described the wider mood as a “great undressing.” The useful distinction is that these were varied design references and styling choices, not one uniform approach to exposure.
