This is an editorial selection from the red carpet, judging the looks by silhouette and tailoring, color, texture and detail, and how distinctly each outfit expressed personal style. The choices range from classic formalwear with a twist to more unconventional statements; outfit details and designer credits below are attributed to the outlets that reported them. The Recording Academy promoted the evening’s red-carpet coverage as a special featuring interviews and fashion first-looks (Recording Academy).
How to read this selection
“Best dressed” is a judgment, not a Grammy category. Esquire and Vanity Fair published their own red-carpet selections, and their choices are editorial too. The picks here favor looks that make a clear style decision—through cut, color, texture, accessories, or a compelling departure from conventional black tie—while still feeling considered. Reported brands and outfit descriptions are credited to the cited publications; the style assessments are mine.
The standout looks
Shaboozey: custom Diesel with a silver focal point
Vanity Fair identified Shaboozey’s outfit as custom Diesel and listed a De Beers brooch, a David Yurman ring, and a Jacob & Co. watch among the accessories (Vanity Fair). The Los Angeles Times also drew attention to his silver scarf (Los Angeles Times). My pick: the look succeeds because it gives the eye a distinct point of focus without relying on an ordinary tuxedo formula. The accessory mix makes the styling feel deliberate and individual.
John Legend: texture and color in a formal silhouette
Vanity Fair identified John Legend’s look as Louis Vuitton, while the Los Angeles Times described it as a textured brown tux (Vanity Fair; Los Angeles Times). Brown is a quieter alternative to black, and the texture keeps the suit from reading as a simple color swap. It is a strong example of how a familiar formal silhouette can feel personal without adding conspicuous ornament.

Trevor Noah: midnight blue, cleanly composed
The Los Angeles Times described Trevor Noah’s suit as midnight blue. Esquire credited the look to Giorgio Armani, with Tiffany & Co. accessories and Christian Louboutin shoes (Los Angeles Times; Esquire). The restrained color gives the outfit distinction without competing with its formal lines. For this selection, its appeal is the balance: an understated suit, with the accessories and footwear completing rather than overwhelming it.
Finneas: tonal burgundy with relaxed proportions
Esquire characterized Finneas’s outfit as tonal burgundy, with sleek, slouchy styling (Esquire). The tonal approach makes color the central decision, while the looser proportions keep the look from feeling like a conventional, rigid red-carpet suit. I like the contrast between the polished finish and relaxed shape: it feels considered but not overly formal.

Bob Weir: formalwear beyond the standard tux
Esquire described Bob Weir’s outfit as a robe- or kimono-like tuxedo paired with a bolo tie (Esquire). It is the selection’s most unconventional silhouette. The appeal is not simply that it breaks with black-tie expectations; the bolo tie gives the look a recognizable formal detail of its own, helping the departure feel styled rather than arbitrary.
Benson Boone: a familiar suit, minus the tie
The Los Angeles Times identified Benson Boone’s look as Dolce & Gabbana and noted that he eschewed a tie (Los Angeles Times). That small styling choice changes the formality of a suit more subtly than a dramatic silhouette or accessory might. It makes the look a useful counterpoint to the night’s more statement-making outfits.

What the men’s looks say about the carpet
The range here runs from conventional formal structure to relaxed or robe-like proportions, and from subdued tailoring to burgundy, brown, and midnight blue. Texture and accessories—such as Shaboozey’s scarf and jewelry, John Legend’s textured tux, and Bob Weir’s bolo tie—also give otherwise formal outfits a sharper identity. These are useful ways to compare the looks without treating one style of risk-taking as the only route to a strong red-carpet outfit.
The broader carpet included black and subdued tones as well as sparkle, statement looks, oversized sleeves, embellishment, and red, according to the Associated Press. Bianca Betancourt, digital culture editor for Harper’s Bazaar, told AP, “While the Grammys carpet is one where we see most celebrities take major risks, some of the night’s most notable artists stayed true to their personal style.” Madeline Hirsch, fashion features director for InStyle, said, “There was a lot more edge and personality than usual on this red carpet. Everyone followed their own vision and aesthetic, which was fun to watch.” (Associated Press)
