Important: The offers in this article were Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions from 2024. They were time-limited, ended in late 2024, and should not be treated as currently redeemable prices. This is a retrospective comparison of what they offered and which deals represented the best value.
The clearest value winner was Hulu with ads for $0.99 per month for 12 months, or $11.88 before tax for the year. The strongest family bundle was Disney+ and Hulu Duo Basic for $2.99 per month for 12 months. For a shorter premium-TV commitment, Max with ads at $2.99 per month for six months was the standout. Peacock offered the best annual upfront price at $19.99, while Paramount+ offered a particularly large discount on its With Showtime tier for two months.

Those rankings consider more than the headline discount: total promotional cost, subscription length, advertising, eligibility, and the price to which the service would renew. The principal deadlines were December 2, 2024, with the direct Paramount+ offer reportedly running through December 4.

| Service or plan | 2024 promotional price | Promotional term | Ads | Eligibility and deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hulu standalone | $0.99/month | 12 months; $11.88 total before tax | Yes | Eligibility restrictions applied; ended December 2 |
| Disney+ and Hulu Duo Basic | $2.99/month | 12 months; $35.88 total before tax | Yes, on both services | New and eligible returning subscribers; ended December 2 |

| Peacock Premium | $1.99/month | 6 months; $11.94 total before tax | Yes | Shorter commitment option; ended with the promotion |
| Paramount+ Essential | $2.99/month | 2 months | Essential tier | Direct offer through December 4; channel version generally through December 2 |
| Paramount+ with Showtime | $2.99/month | 2 months | Plan-specific terms | Direct offer through December 4; channel version generally through December 2 |
Contemporary roundups from TVLine, GameSpot, and MacRumors supplied the reported terms and deadlines. Because these were promotional subscriptions, the most important comparison is not simply “which service had the biggest percentage discount?” A two-month discount can look spectacular while costing more than a modest discount that lasts for a full year.
Best overall value: Hulu with ads for $0.99 per month
Hulu’s standalone ad-supported plan was the simplest and strongest value for someone who wanted a broad on-demand television catalog at the lowest possible cost. The promotion reduced the reported regular $9.99 monthly price to $0.99 per month for 12 months.
- Total promotional cost: $11.88 before tax.
- Length: 12 months.
- Plan: Standalone Hulu on-demand with ads.
- Not included: Hulu + Live TV, Disney+, or ESPN+.
- Reported deadline: December 2, 2024.
By total cost, this was difficult to beat. It was especially useful for a viewer who wanted to subscribe for an entire year rather than rotate through several services month by month. The trade-off was advertising, and the offer did not provide the broader bundle benefits available from Disney+ and Hulu.
The price was promotional, not permanent. A subscriber who took the deal needed to check the renewal terms and cancel before the discounted period ended if the then-current regular rate was no longer worthwhile. The promotion was not a Hulu + Live TV offer, so it should not be compared with live-channel packages.
Best family bundle: Disney+ and Hulu Duo Basic for $2.99 per month
The Disney+ and Hulu bundle, sold as Duo Basic, cost $2.99 per month for 12 months. The reported regular price was approximately $10.99 per month, making the promotional total $35.88 before tax compared with about $131.88 at the stated regular rate.
- Total promotional cost: $35.88 before tax.
- Length: 12 months.
- Advertising: Ads appeared on both the Disney+ and Hulu services in this ad-supported version.
- Eligibility: New and eligible returning subscribers.
- Reported deadline: December 2, 2024.
This was the better choice than Hulu alone for households that wanted access to both Disney+ and Hulu. It also delivered a much lower combined cost than subscribing to the two services separately at their reported regular prices.
The bundle did not include ESPN+ or Hulu + Live TV. It was also not an ad-free Disney+ or ad-free Hulu plan. Anyone comparing it with a premium bundle needed to account for the fact that commercials were part of the deal.
As with the standalone Hulu promotion, the $2.99 rate lasted only for the promotional year. Subscribers needed to review the post-promotion renewal price and cancel if they did not want to continue at the then-current rate.
Best short-term premium-TV deal: Max with ads for $2.99 per month
Max with ads was discounted to $2.99 per month for six months, compared with a reported regular price of approximately $9.99 or $10 per month. GameSpot described the offer as saving about $42 over the six-month term.
- Total promotional cost: $17.94 before tax.
- Length: 6 months.
- Plan: Ad-supported Max.
- Eligibility: New and returning customers were reported as eligible.
- Best for: Viewers who wanted HBO and Max programming without committing to a full year.
This was a stronger short-term premium-TV offer than its six-month duration might initially suggest. At $2.99 per month, it gave a viewer time to watch a concentrated list of shows and films while avoiding a full annual commitment. It was not the best deal for someone judging only by total months of service, however: Hulu and the Disney+ bundle retained their discounts for twice as long.
The “with ads” designation mattered. The promotion was not a discount on an ad-free Max tier, and the $2.99 rate was not permanent. The subscription would need to be canceled or changed before renewal if the regular price was not acceptable.
Best annual commitment: Peacock Premium for $19.99
Peacock’s strongest offer was $19.99 for one year of the ad-supported Premium plan. The reported regular annual price was $79.99, so the promotion reduced the upfront annual cost by $60.

- Total promotional cost: $19.99 before tax.
- Length: 12 months.
- Plan: Peacock Premium with ads.
- Eligibility: New and select returning customers.
- Reported deadline: December 2, 2024.
This was the best Peacock option for someone who already knew they wanted the service for a year and was comfortable paying upfront. It also made Peacock one of the least expensive major streaming subscriptions on an annual basis during the promotion.
Peacock also offered a lower-commitment option at $1.99 per month for six months. That option cost $11.94 during the promotional period and avoided paying for a full year in advance. However, if a subscriber expected to keep Peacock for the year, the $19.99 annual promotion was the stronger value. After either promotion ended, renewal pricing and automatic-renewal terms became important.
Best premium tier for a two-month binge: Paramount+ with Showtime
Paramount+ offered both its Essential plan and its Paramount+ with Showtime plan for $2.99 per month for the first two months. The reported regular prices were approximately $7.99 per month for Essential and $12.99 per month for With Showtime.
At the same promotional price, the With Showtime tier represented the larger nominal discount: about $20 saved over two months compared with the reported $25.98 regular cost. Essential would have cost $5.98 during the promotion and saved about $10 compared with its reported regular price.
- Promotional price: $2.99 per month.
- Length: 2 months.
- Total promotional cost: $5.98 before tax.
- Best choice: With Showtime if the included Showtime programming was the reason for subscribing; Essential if the lower tier met the viewer’s needs.
- Direct Paramount+ deadline: December 4, 2024.
- Prime Video channel deadline: Generally December 2, 2024.
This deal worked best as a short binge subscription. It was not as useful for someone seeking a year-long service because the discount ended after only two billing cycles. Subscribers also needed to pay close attention to the renewal date: after the first two months, the plan was expected to renew at its applicable regular rate unless canceled.
Prime Video Channels: a separate route to temporary discounts
Amazon also discounted a range of add-on subscriptions through Prime Video Channels. This was not simply a duplicate of the direct-service deals. A reader subscribing through Amazon entered a different billing and account relationship, with cancellation and eligibility handled through Amazon rather than necessarily through the service’s own website.
Examples documented in the 2024 coverage included:
- BET+ at $2.75 per month for two months.
- STARZ at $2.75 per month for two months.
- Hallmark+ at $2 per month for two months.
- Paramount+ at $2.99 per month for two months.
- Other participating channels, including AMC+, MGM+, and Discovery+, with terms that varied by service.
Not every Prime Video Channel received the same price or duration. The safest way to compare a channel offer was to check the individual service’s promotional price, the number of discounted billing cycles, the regular renewal rate, and whether the offer applied to a new or returning channel subscriber.
Prime Video Channels generally renewed automatically at regular rates unless canceled. That made the renewal date particularly important for short two-month offers. A subscriber could accidentally continue paying for several add-ons after the original reason for signing up had passed.

They were not automatically a better choice than subscribing directly; the best route depended on price, eligibility, billing preferences, and the cancellation process.
Live-TV and sports promotions were a different category
Live-TV and sports offers should not be ranked alongside a $0.99 Hulu on-demand subscription. They served different purposes, had different channel lineups and sports rights, and usually involved much higher ongoing prices.
The 2024 roundup evidence included these offers:
| Service | Reported 2024 promotion | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube TV | $46 off the first two months | Useful for a live-channel replacement, but the regular monthly price remained the key cost after the discount. |
| Fubo | One month for $49 | Evaluate the sports and live-channel lineup against the post-promotion price. |
| Sling TV | 50% off the first month | A shorter introductory discount with plan-specific channel and sports differences. |
| ESPN+ | $99 for an annual plan instead of a reported $119 | A sports-focused annual offer rather than a general entertainment bundle. |
These offers were documented by Tom’s Guide. A viewer choosing among them needed to start with the content requirement—live local channels, a particular league, sports coverage, or a cable replacement—rather than the percentage saved. None was directly comparable to the full-year cost of the Hulu or Disney+ and Hulu promotions.
Streaming-device deals for accessing the services
Discounted subscriptions are only useful if the intended television, monitor, or projector can run the required apps. During the same Black Friday/Cyber Monday period, Tom’s Guide documented several discounted streaming players:

| Device | Reported 2024 Black Friday price |
|---|---|
| Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K | $21 |
| Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max | $32 |
| Roku Express 4K+ | $24 |
| Amazon Fire TV Cube | $99 |
The Roku Express 4K+ was a practical low-cost companion for readers who needed a 4K streaming player, while the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K offered an alternative streaming-stick form factor. These were separate hardware purchases: buying one did not automatically include Hulu, Disney+, Max, Peacock, Paramount+, or any other subscription unless a particular bundle explicitly said so.
Roku’s own 2024 holiday promotion page also documented Roku device discounts, including a promotion for the Roku Streaming Stick 4K. Prices, stock, included accessories, and availability were retailer- and model-specific, so the 2024 hardware prices should be treated as historical sale prices rather than current recommendations.
Before purchasing a device, readers should confirm that it supports the apps they actually plan to use, that the television has the necessary HDMI connection, and that the device’s resolution and audio features match the television. The deal coverage supports these devices as discounted ways to access streaming apps; it does not establish that every listed service worked identically on every model.

Renewal and cancellation checklist
The discounted price was only one part of the deal. Before signing up for a similar promotion, a careful subscriber would have needed to:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Record the sign-up date and final discounted billing date. The short Paramount+ and Prime Video Channel offers could reach regular pricing after only two billing cycles.
- Confirm the exact plan. Hulu was standalone on-demand, not Hulu + Live TV. Max was the ad-supported tier. The Disney+ and Hulu bundle was Duo Basic with ads on both services. Paramount+ Essential and With Showtime were different plans despite having the same introductory price.
- Check eligibility before assuming the offer applied. Many promotions were limited to new subscribers or new and eligible returning subscribers. Peacock’s terms specifically referred to new and select returning customers.
- Note whether payment was monthly or upfront. Peacock’s $19.99 annual offer required the annual commitment, while its $1.99 option lasted six months. The Hulu and Disney+ promotions lasted 12 months but were billed monthly.
- Review the renewal price. Promotional pricing generally ended automatically at the end of the stated term. The subscription could then renew at the applicable regular rate unless canceled.
- Cancel through the correct billing provider. A direct subscription and an Amazon Prime Video Channel subscription were separate routes. A channel added through Amazon needed to be managed through the relevant Amazon subscription controls rather than assumed to be canceled on the standalone service’s website.
- Account for advertising and taxes. The listed totals were promotional prices before tax, and the lowest-cost plans were ad-supported.
- Do not assume stacking. The researched offers do not establish that multiple promotions could be combined, transferred, or reused across accounts.
Services without a comparable featured deal in the reviewed coverage
The reviewed 2024 deal roundups did not identify a comparable direct Netflix Black Friday promotion. That does not prove Netflix offered no promotion anywhere; it only means the sources reviewed for this comparison did not establish a Netflix offer that could be ranked alongside the principal deals above.
Apple TV+ appeared in Roku’s holiday material as a possible three-month free offer through Roku, but the available documentation did not provide enough detail on eligibility, timing, and terms to rank it with the direct Hulu, Disney+, Max, Peacock, and Paramount+ promotions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still redeem these Black Friday streaming deals?
No. These were limited Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2024 promotions. The major offers ended in late 2024, with December 2 reported for most deals and December 4 for the direct Paramount+ promotion. They should not be treated as current prices.
Was the $0.99 Hulu deal for Hulu + Live TV?
No. The promotion was for standalone, ad-supported Hulu on demand. It did not include Hulu + Live TV, Disney+, or ESPN+.
Did the Disney+ and Hulu deal include ad-free viewing?
No. The $2.99 Duo Basic offer was ad-supported on both Disney+ and Hulu.
Which was cheaper for a full year: Hulu or the Disney+ and Hulu bundle?
Hulu alone cost $11.88 before tax for the promotional year, while the Disney+ and Hulu bundle cost $35.88. Hulu was cheaper in absolute terms; the bundle offered more total services for the additional $24 over the year.
Were Prime Video Channels the same as subscribing directly to each service?
No. Prime Video Channels were add-on subscriptions managed and billed through Amazon. Their promotional prices, eligibility, cancellation process, and renewal terms could differ from direct subscriptions.
Did the streaming-device deals include streaming subscriptions?
No. The documented Fire TV, Roku, and Fire TV Cube discounts were hardware promotions. They did not automatically include Hulu, Disney+, Max, Peacock, Paramount+, or another subscription unless a specific bundle said otherwise.

For the 2024 promotions, Hulu at $0.99 per month for 12 months was the lowest-cost full-year option, while Disney+ and Hulu Duo Basic at $2.99 per month was the better family bundle. Max at $2.99 per month for six months suited a shorter premium-TV binge, and Peacock at $19.99 for a year was the strongest annual upfront deal. The key lesson was to compare the entire promotional term, advertising, eligibility, billing route, and renewal price—not just the first month’s headline discount.
