The Beginning After the End is a fantasy anime about Arthur, a former king reincarnated into a world of magic and monsters. Its first episode premiered on April 2, 2025. Season 2 began its Japanese television broadcast on April 1, 2026; streaming access and language options depend on your location and the service’s current catalog.

What is The Beginning After the End about?

Arthur is a former king reborn in a magical world. With a new life ahead of him, he faces monsters and tries to reshape his destiny. The premise combines reincarnation fantasy with a story about what Arthur chooses to do differently in the life he has been given.

Is the anime based on a webtoon or a novel?

It originates with a web novel by Brandon Lee, who writes as TurtleMe. Kakao Entertainment describes The Beginning After the End as an original Tapas intellectual property that developed from web novel into webtoon through the company’s Novel-to-Comics system. The anime is another adaptation of the franchise, not its original format.

Kakao Entertainment announced the anime at New York Comic Con in 2024 and named TurtleMe an executive producer. The anime’s reported credits include director Keitaro Motonaga, series composer Takamitsu Kouno, character designer Masami Sueoka, and music composer Keiji Inai. Slow Curve and Studio A-CAT are credited as production collaborators. Kakao Entertainment’s announcement provides the franchise background and production details.

When did the anime and season 2 come out?

Season 1

Kakao Entertainment reported that the first episode released on April 2, 2025, on Crunchyroll and Japan’s Fuji TV. The company announced a 24-episode plan divided into two parts, with the first part consisting of 12 episodes released weekly. That announcement establishes the planned structure, but it does not confirm the episode count of every later part.

Season 2

Crunchyroll announced in June 2025 that season 2 would premiere in 2026 and stream on its service. For Japan’s television broadcast, Fuji TV lists the start as Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 24:45 on the +Ultra programming block. The 24:45 notation is the broadcaster’s late-night schedule format. See Fuji TV’s season 2 program listing for the listed Japanese broadcast slot and Crunchyroll’s season 2 announcement for its streaming announcement.

Where can you watch The Beginning After the End?

Crunchyroll was named as a streaming service in the 2025 launch announcement. That announcement listed availability across North America, Central America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS, and the Indian subcontinent. It is a dated distribution statement, not a guarantee that the series is in the catalog everywhere today. Check Crunchyroll’s current catalog for your country and confirm which language options are offered there; current subtitle and dub inventories are not established by the announcements cited here.

For the Japanese television schedule, Fuji TV lists season 2 on +Ultra. A Japanese broadcast listing does not establish streaming access in other territories.

Can you read the story in print or online?

Yes. The web novel and webtoon are the source-story formats, and Kakao Entertainment reports that North American paperback editions have been published. The webtoon is serialized on Kakao Page in South Korea. Paperback availability and digital access can vary by country and edition, so check the relevant local retailer or platform. Kakao’s announcement confirms the North American paperback editions, but does not identify a current retailer listing or specify which volume follows a particular anime episode.

If you want to choose between watching and reading, the main difference is format: the anime is an animated adaptation, while the print and digital editions let you read the story. The available information does not provide a reliable episode-to-volume map, so do not assume a particular paperback volume is the exact continuation point for an episode.

What is known about the franchise’s scale?

Kakao Entertainment reported in October 2024 that the IP generated approximately $500,000 in monthly revenue and had been translated into seven languages, including Korean, Japanese, and French. These are company-reported figures from that announcement, not independently audited or current measurements. Kakao also said more than 400 fans attended TurtleMe’s Anime NYC talk in 2022; that is a publisher-reported event attendance figure, not a measure of the anime’s present audience. These figures appear in Kakao Entertainment’s 2024 franchise announcement.
