The film’s latest announced U.S. theatrical date is February 18, 2028, but the studio has not said whether the pause will affect it.
What is the latest update on The Batman: Part II?
Warner Bros. and DC Studios said production had been temporarily paused. Their statement, reported by the Los Angeles Times and TheWrap on October 5, 2026, said Reeves was focusing on a family matter. The studio added: “Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.”
The statement did not give a restart date. It also did not announce a cancellation, cast change, plot reveal, or release-date revision.
Is the February 18, 2028 release date still on?
February 18, 2028 is the latest announced U.S. theatrical date in the reported schedule. As of the October 5 coverage, it was too early to know whether the production pause would affect that date. It is therefore accurate to call it the film’s currently scheduled date—not a date the studio has newly reaffirmed as guaranteed.

TheWrap also listed earlier announced dates of October 3, 2025, October 2, 2026, and October 1, 2027; those past schedule changes do not establish why any individual change occurred. Variety Australia’s July 15 report also gave February 18, 2028 as the new date.
Why has production paused?
The only reason given publicly by the studio is that Reeves is focusing on a family matter. The statement offered support but did not describe the circumstances, and no further explanation should be inferred from it.

What was happening before the pause?
Filming had begun in London in June 2026. TheWrap reported the start on June 12, after Reeves shared a first-shot post. The October announcement was therefore a pause after production had started, not a report that filming had yet to begin.
