Maria Georgas’s conflict with other contestants became part of her story with Joey Graziadei on The Bachelor Season 28, but the available accounts do not establish that she alone “blew it” or that the relationship would have ended differently without the drama. Maria later said the conflict made her defend her character and took time away from getting to know Joey. Joey, meanwhile, cautioned that viewers did not see every conversation. The distinction matters: the edited episodes show one version of events, while their later interviews offer two personal perspectives.
What happened between Maria and Joey?
Maria’s season included recurring tension involving other contestants, not just disagreements between her and Joey. In a February 26, 2024 interview, Joey described drama involving Maria, Madina Alam, Sydney Gordon, Jess Edwards, and Lea Cayanan. He said that only some conversations made the final cut and that he tried to focus on his connections. As he put it, “I know there’s so much more than is always shown.” TheWrap’s interview with Joey offers his perspective on how the season’s conflicts were portrayed.

That comment is a reminder that a televised season is an edited account, not a complete record of every conversation. It does not establish what was omitted or settle how each interaction unfolded; it does mean viewers should be cautious about treating the broadcast as the whole story.
Did the conflict affect their relationship?
Maria said it did. In an interview with Extra published March 18, 2024, after the Women Tell All taping, she described the conflict as something that reached Joey and led him to question her character. She said the time spent dealing with it took time away from their relationship: “It was kind of like taking time from us really just moving forward together, getting to know one another, and I think that’s what hurt us in the end.” Read Maria’s account to Extra.

Maria also characterized their relationship as having “ups and downs together.” Her explanation is her own retrospective account of what hurt the connection; it is not an independent finding that the conflict caused Joey’s decision. Joey’s comments about the edit and Maria’s account of lost time can both be true without proving that either one tells the entire story.
When did Joey eliminate Maria, and who did he choose?
Joey eliminated Maria after the hometown dates, according to Reality TV World’s episode recap. The season’s final two were Daisy Kent and Kelsey Anderson. Joey chose Kelsey and proposed in the finale, according to ABC Audio’s finale report; ABC’s March 26, 2024 finale page documents the season’s conclusion.

Did Maria “blow it” with Joey?
That phrase is a judgment, not a conclusion established by the reporting. Maria’s account supports the narrower point that conflict and character doubts took time away from their connection, in her view. Joey’s interview supports the point that the televised story did not include every conversation. Neither establishes that Maria alone was responsible for the outcome, nor can the available accounts show that Joey would have chosen her in the absence of the conflict.
The most careful reading is that the drama became part of the relationship’s story and, according to Maria, made it harder for them to move forward together. Joey ultimately chose Kelsey. The sources leave the private dynamics and any counterfactual outcome unresolved.
