Spoilers for the March 3, 2025, hometown-dates episode of The Bachelor season 29. Dina Lupancu’s parents did not meet Grant Ellis because they chose not to appear on a reality-TV dating show. Dina said their absence was not a rejection of Grant; her friends met him instead. At the rose ceremony, Grant sent Dina home, leaving Juliana Pasquarosa, Zoe McGrady, and Litia Garr in his final three.
Why Dina’s parents did not meet Grant
During the Chicago hometown, Dina explained that her parents did not want to participate in the show. Her father is a pastor deeply involved in his church, and neither parent wanted to appear on a reality-TV dating series. Dina stressed that their decision was not because they had a problem with Grant. Her friends stepped in for the family meeting, and Grant told them, “I’m very close to falling for Dina,” as reported from the episode in Kristen Baldwin’s Entertainment Weekly recap.

Dina and Grant also visited Jack’s Pumpkin Pop-Up. The visit gave Grant a chance to meet people close to Dina, but it could not provide the same conversation with her parents that the other hometowns offered with relatives.
How the other hometown dates went
Juliana Pasquarosa in Newton, Massachusetts
Juliana welcomed Grant to a large gathering of relatives and friends. They made pizza, and her father, Carl, told her he was happy with Grant after speaking with him. Grant told Juliana he was falling for her.

Zoe McGrady in New York City
Zoe introduced Grant to her sister, aunt, uncle, and friends, whom she considers chosen family. She said she is estranged from her adoptive parents and is not ready to reconnect. That is a different situation from Dina’s: Zoe’s chosen family met Grant, while Dina’s parents declined to take part in filming. Zoe and Grant also had a wedding-themed photo shoot with Brides.
Litia Garr in Star Valley, Wyoming
Grant met Litia’s parents, brothers, and extended family. Their visit included horseback riding and tug-of-war, alongside a conversation about the family’s Mormon faith and Grant’s questions about how religion might shape their future family.

Who advanced after the hometown rose ceremony?
Grant eliminated Dina at the rose ceremony. Juliana, Zoe, and Litia received roses and advanced. Entertainment Weekly’s recap characterized the parents’ refusal to appear as something that gave Grant pause; it does not establish that the absence alone determined his decision.
The episode’s four visits moved from a large family gathering in Massachusetts to Zoe’s chosen-family meeting in New York, Litia’s faith-centered gathering in Wyoming, and Dina’s Chicago date with friends standing in for her parents. The outcome was Grant’s final three: Juliana, Zoe, and Litia.
