Who did Grant eliminate before hometowns?
At the rose ceremony preceding the hometown visits, Grant selected the four finalists and sent Carolina, Alexe, and Sarafiena home. Carolina was therefore eliminated before the hometown episode, not during it. TheWrap’s episode recap reports the selections and eliminations.

Why did Grant send Dina home?
After the hometown dates, Grant gave roses to Litia, Zoe, and Juliana and eliminated Dina. TheWrap reported that Dina’s parents decided at the last minute not to take part in the visit. Grant said their absence did not affect his decision: he had learned what he needed from the hometown dates. He also acknowledged that “not everybody has the perfect family and the perfect family setting.”
In an interview with TheWrap, Grant described the purpose of the visits this way: “Hometowns is a great way to figure out what you need, and a really good step to progressing. I feel like I got all the answers that I needed during my hometown dates.” These are Grant’s explanations of his decision; the episode’s edited scenes do not independently establish private family circumstances.
