How many people watched the Perth premiere?
PerthNow’s 14 September 2020 report said 122,000 people in Perth watched the premiere of the three-part special. In its same-night Perth comparison, The Block drew 86,000 viewers. The report also gave a national premiere audience of 781,000.

How does that compare with Seven’s later season figures?
Seven West Media’s later 2020 season summary reported 1.21 million viewers nationally and 820,000 in capital cities for The All New Monty: Guys and Gals. It also reported a 16% timeslot audience lift among viewers aged 16–39, digital reach of 210,000 people, and 13 million minutes streamed. These are network-reported season-summary figures, with a broader program-level scope than PerthNow’s premiere-night report; the sources do not reconcile their measurement windows.

Seven West Media’s 2020 summary presents the figures as part of the network’s year-end results. They should not be combined with, or treated as a correction to, the separately reported premiere-night audience.
What was the special about?
The three-part celebrity performance combined choreographed dancing with a strip-tease and was framed as a way to raise awareness of men’s and women’s cancers and the importance of early detection. PerthNow described 15 Australian celebrities taking part. Shane Jacobson and Georgie Parker hosted, with Todd McKenney as dance teacher.

The special followed The Real Full Monty (2018), The All New Monty (2019) and The All New Monty: Ladies Night (2019), according to PerthNow. The premiere episode featured male participants travelling to regional areas to speak with locals about regular cancer checks. Later parts included a women’s group featuring Patti Newton, Danielle Spencer, Leisel Jones, Fiona O’Loughlin, Ash Pollard, Sam Frost and Erin Holland.

In a 2020 interview with 7NEWS, Olympic swimmer and participant Leisel Jones described the show as entertainment with a serious health-awareness message. She said, “It was a really great show to be a part of but also has a very serious message about getting our breasts checked.” She added: “So it’s about getting checked, learning how to check ourselves and then also going to the doctor if something is not feeling right.”

Jones also reflected on how participants were described: “I don’t know that we are necessarily brave, but I definitely think the people that are battling cancer are brave.” These are her comments about the programme, not medical guidance.
