Spoilers for The Acolyte season one finale. Osha kills Sol after learning he killed her mother, then leaves with the Stranger to train. Mae refuses to kill Sol, accepts a memory wipe, and returns to the Jedi without remembering Osha or the Stranger. Their paths split, while the Jedi’s response and the Sith-related tease remain unresolved.
What happens to Osha and Mae in the finale?
During the confrontation on Brendok, Mae wants Sol to confess and face the Jedi rather than be killed by the Stranger. Sol admits that he killed Mother Aniseya. Osha overhears the confession and confronts him for lying to her. In anger, she Force-chokes Sol; afterward, her blue lightsaber turns red.

Osha and Mae briefly work together again. Osha wants to turn herself in, but fears what the Jedi will do if they discover how powerful she is. She bargains with the Stranger: Mae can go free if Osha becomes his student. He agrees to erase Mae’s memory, and Mae consents. Osha leaves with the Stranger, while Mae later faces Vernestra without remembering Sol or Osha.
Why does Osha choose the Stranger?
Osha’s turn is shown through what she does: she kills Sol after his confession, her lightsaber changes color, and she chooses the Stranger’s tutelage. One way to read the reversal is that Osha takes up the path Mae had been pursuing, while Mae moves back toward the Jedi. That is an interpretation of the finale’s character reversal, not a confirmed account of everything either twin will choose next.

Creator and showrunner Leslye Headland described the series more broadly as telling “a version of Star Wars from the bad guys’ perspective” in a Walt Disney Company interview published June 4, 2024. That framing helps situate the show’s interest in shifting moral viewpoints, but it is not a direct explanation of Osha’s decision. Headland also said, “The logical conclusion would be to set this show in a time period where the Sith are the underdogs,” and that the setting meant “we actually can explore something new here and we don’t have to worry about stepping on anything else and preserving something else.” Those comments concern the creative setting, not a definitive meaning for the finale.
Why does Mae accept the memory wipe?
Mae does not agree to kill Sol: she wants him held accountable before the Jedi. After his death, she accepts the Stranger’s plan to erase her memories so she can return to the Order without exposing Osha or the Stranger. The choice makes that return possible, but leaves Mae separated from her twin and from the truth of their shared history.

How the twins’ choices diverge
| Story question | Osha | Mae |
|---|---|---|
| Accountability | After hearing Sol’s confession, she kills him. | She wants Sol to face the Jedi and refuses to kill him herself. |
| Knowledge | She leaves carrying the truth of Sol’s confession. | She consents to having her memories erased. |
| Next affiliation shown | She leaves with the Stranger to train. | She returns to the Jedi without remembering Osha or the Stranger. |
These are interpretive contrasts drawn from the events, not official labels for the twins or guarantees about their eventual beliefs.

Vernestra attributes the Brendok events to Sol and approaches Yoda in the final scene. The episode does not show whether Yoda believes her, what action he takes, or whether the Jedi discover Osha’s role. A brief Plagueis tease and the Stranger’s future with Osha likewise remain unexplained; the finale does not establish what either thread would lead to.

Lucasfilm describes the series as taking place about 100 years before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, in the final years of the High Republic. It identifies Osha as a former Padawan who left the Jedi Order and became a mechanic, and credits Leslye Headland as creator and showrunner. A later report published February 6, 2026, said the series had been canceled and Lucasfilm had not announced a return for its characters at that time. That is a dated status report, not proof that the unresolved story can never be revisited.
