The best beach playlist mixes songs set on the shore with surf anthems, boardwalk romance and tracks that simply evoke a sunny escape. This curated 30 spans surf rock, soul, pop, country, punk and reggae-influenced pop, with upbeat picks alongside relaxed and reflective ones. “Beach connection” below tells you whether a song is literally about the coast or more of a vacation daydream.
There is no objective ranking behind a “best” beach-song list. These 30 picks balance recognizable staples, different eras and genres, and a range of moods. Some have a direct beach, surfing or boardwalk connection; others earn a place for their coastal or tropical atmosphere. The selections draw on candidate lists from MidderMusic (published December 13, 2023) and Lyric Stories (published July 15, 2025), with the descriptions here distinguishing literal settings from broader beach mood.
