FlixPatrol’s calendar-year 2024 aggregation of Netflix engagement data puts Damsel first, followed by Lift and Carry-On. The ranking is based on Netflix’s “views” measure—not viewing hours or a verified count of unique people—and Netflix did not publish this as an official annual ranking.
2024’s 15 most-watched Netflix movies
The order below is FlixPatrol’s calendar-year ranking by views. Netflix publishes engagement reports for January–June and July–December, rather than one annual ranking. FlixPatrol says its figures derive from those Netflix reports; the annual order has not been independently recalculated here from the underlying spreadsheets.
- Damsel
- Lift
- Carry-On
- The Union
- Rebel Ridge
- Under Paris
- A Family Affair
- Mother of the Bride
- Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F
- Atlas
- Irish Wish
- Trigger Warning
- Our Little Secret
- Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp
- Sing: Thriller

What Netflix means by “views”
Netflix calculates views by dividing a title’s total hours viewed by its runtime. As Netflix explains in its February 26, 2025 announcement of its July–December 2024 engagement report, it uses views as a measure that other streamers can replicate and that correlates highly with completers on Netflix. A view is therefore a normalized engagement measure—not a confirmed unique viewer and not necessarily one complete playback.
#1 Best Overall
- HD streaming made simple: With America’s number 1 TV streaming platform,* exploring popular apps—plus tons of free movies, shows, and live TV—is as easy as it is fun. *Based on hours streamed—Hypothesis Group
- Compact without compromises: The sleek design of Roku Streaming Stick won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, and it even powers from your TV alone, plugging into the back and staying out of sight. No wall outlet, no extra cords, no clutter.
- No more juggling remotes: Power up your TV, adjust the volume, and control your Roku device with one remote. Use your voice to quickly search, play entertainment, and more.
- Shows on the go: Take your TV to-go when traveling—without needing to log into someone else’s device.
- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
That distinction matters when reading the ranking: a shorter title can accumulate views differently from a longer one, and the metric does not tell you how many distinct people watched a film. Netflix also cautions that a film’s success is not determined by hours viewed alone; its economics and audience response matter too. Viewing volume by itself cannot establish a title’s quality, completion rate, unique audience, or profitability.
What the half-year figures can—and cannot—tell you
Netflix’s official reports divide engagement into two six-month periods. Its January–June 2024 report records 144 million views for Damsel, 129 million for Lift, 85 million for Under Paris, and 78 million for Mother of the Bride. Those are first-half figures, not full-year totals.
Rank #2
- Ultra-speedy streaming: Roku Ultra is 30% faster than any other Roku player, delivering a lightning-fast interface and apps that launch in a snap.
- Cinematic streaming: This TV streaming device brings the movie theater to your living room with spectacular 4K, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision picture alongside immersive Dolby Atmos audio.
- The ultimate Roku remote: The rechargeable Roku Voice Remote Pro offers backlit buttons, hands-free voice controls, and a lost remote finder.
- No more fumbling in the dark: See what you’re pressing with backlit buttons.
- Say goodbye to batteries: Keep your remote powered for months on a single charge.
The July–December 2024 report, released in 2025, gives second-half figures for titles including The Grinch (67 million views), Trolls Band Together (61 million), That Christmas (60 million), Sing (58 million), and Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie (56 million). These are likewise period figures, not annual totals. Netflix said that report covered about 99% of all video watch time on the service.
Do not compare a first-half figure directly with a second-half figure as if either were a yearly result. Nor should either period’s numbers be substituted for the annual order above: the periods cover different months, and the ranking is presented as a calendar-year aggregation.

How to interpret the ranking
- It answers a specific question: which Netflix movies ranked highest in FlixPatrol’s 2024 calendar-year views aggregation.
- It is not Netflix’s own annual top-15 announcement: Netflix issued half-year reports, while the combined yearly order is attributed to FlixPatrol.
- It is not a quality score or a unique-audience count: Netflix’s views metric is hours viewed divided by runtime, and Netflix says viewing hours alone do not determine success.
