What is The 13th Summer about?
Ben and Vee arrive at their regular beach retreat for an annual holiday. Their friends Kate and Patrick fail to show up as expected, and the couple instead find Alex, a British backpacker who offers little explanation for being there. Tension grows between Alex and Vee, then a violent incident in the water leads to a search for a possible body and brings the characters’ secrets into focus. That is the spoiler-light setup; it does not reveal the film’s resolution.

Character surnames are not presented consistently across listings: Fraser Coast Films identifies Vee as Vee Trainor, while Apple TV’s UK listing calls Levien’s character Vee Byrnes. The cast names are the clearest way to identify the performers.
Where was The 13th Summer filmed?
Production company Fraser Coast Films says filming took place in Hervey Bay and on the Sunshine Coast in November and December 2022. Those are the documented filming locations; the beach-house setting in the story should not be taken as evidence that every scene was shot at one particular retreat.

How long is it, and what rating does it have?
Reported runtime depends on the listing and version. The BBFC gives an approximate runtime of 96 minutes and records a 95-minute, 31-second home-entertainment version. Fraser Coast Films lists 97 minutes; Apple TV and Google Play give 1 hour 35 minutes or 95 minutes.
Ratings are territory- and version-specific. The BBFC record, dated 6 September 2024, classifies its VOD/Streaming version; Apple TV’s UK page displays a 15 rating. Neither should be treated as a universal classification.

Is The 13th Summer suitable for teens?
The BBFC’s content advice describes strong language, occasional bloody injury detail and blood spatter, moderate threat and violence, references to domestic abuse, a brief sexual threat, sexual references and marijuana use. It also notes a near-drowning, people held at gunpoint, shootings, punches and physical restraint.
