WWE’s 2016 draft was not the whole call-up class: several NXT acts had already appeared on the main roster, and the Vaudevillains debuted in April. Counting tag teams as single acts, the documented pool contains 11 candidates. This retrospective ranks ten, but the available evidence supports a firm career-achievement case for only one of them; it does not support a reliable success ranking for the other nine. The list below is therefore an eligibility-focused ranking, not a claim that draft order measured later success.
Who counts as a 2016 NXT call-up?
There are two reasonable ways to define the year. WWE’s July 19 draft results explicitly identify six selections as coming from NXT: Finn Bálor, American Alpha, Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss, Mojo Rawley and Carmella. The same results page also lists Baron Corbin, Enzo & Big Cass, and Apollo Crews as draft selections, though it does not label all of them “from NXT.” WWE’s July 17 draft-rules article describes the eligible pool and NXT’s role in the process.

A calendar-year definition also includes acts who debuted before the draft. WWE announced on April 6 that the Vaudevillains would make their SmackDown debut, after Corbin, Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady and Apollo Crews had appeared on Raw. Counting American Alpha, Enzo & Big Cass and the Vaudevillains as teams, rather than counting their members separately, produces 11 acts.
That leaves one act outside a ten-place list. The Vaudevillains are excluded here because WWE’s cited draft results explicitly document the six “from NXT” selections and the cited career evidence does not establish a comparative case for placing the Vaudevillains over another candidate. This is a scope choice, not a claim that the team was ineligible.

Ranking the 10 acts
The ranking criteria are later main-roster championship accomplishments, prominence in major storylines or events, and sustained visibility. These are editorial criteria, not an official WWE ranking. The available records establish the candidates’ eligibility, but do not provide comparable career histories for most of them. Only Carmella’s later milestones are specifically substantiated here, so the placements below should not be mistaken for a fully verified retrospective ordering.
-
Carmella
WWE’s biography identifies Carmella as the final pick of the 2016 draft and records later milestones including winning the first Women’s Money in the Bank match, capturing the SmackDown Women’s Championship, and participating in the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal. Those documented achievements make her the strongest supported case in this list.
-
Finn Bálor
WWE explicitly marked Bálor as coming from NXT in the draft results. The available evidence confirms his eligibility but does not establish a comparable record of subsequent championships, major-event prominence or longevity for this ranking.
-
Alexa Bliss
Bliss was one of the six selections explicitly identified as coming from NXT. The cited material does not substantiate her later main-roster accomplishments enough to place her confidently relative to the other candidates.

-
Nia Jax
Jax was also explicitly identified as an NXT selection. Her position here is not a judgment about her overall career; the available evidence does not supply the milestone record needed for a more defensible comparison.
-
American Alpha
WWE listed American Alpha as an NXT selection. The team counts as one act for this article, and the available material does not provide a comparable main-roster record for its placement.
-
Mojo Rawley
Rawley appears among the six selections WWE labeled “from NXT.” The cited sources establish that draft status, not a comparative account of his later championships, storylines or sustained visibility.
-
Baron Corbin
Corbin appears in the July draft results, and WWE’s April announcement also identifies him among the performers who had already appeared on Raw. The available evidence does not support a precise position against the other acts.

-
Enzo & Big Cass
WWE’s draft results include Enzo & Big Cass, and the April announcement names Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady as prior Raw arrivals. They are treated as one act here; the cited evidence does not establish their later comparative record.
-
Apollo Crews
Crews is listed among the draft selections and among the earlier Raw arrivals in WWE’s April announcement. His eligibility is supported, but the supplied career evidence does not justify a more exact success ranking.
-
Vaudevillains
The April 6 WWE announcement establishes the team’s SmackDown debut. They are a valid calendar-year candidate, but are left off the ten ranked slots under the scope choice explained above.
What this ranking can—and cannot—show
The documented pool answers who belongs in a broad 2016 call-up discussion, while Carmella’s WWE biography supplies a concrete set of later milestones. The sources cited for the pool do not establish comparable results for the remaining acts. Consequently, places two through ten are not evidence-backed claims that one career surpassed another; a definitive success ranking would require verified title histories, major-event records and career timelines for each candidate.
