But WWE did not publish an official ranking of the year’s ten best feuds, and its award nominees and match rankings are not the same thing as a definitive feud list. This countdown uses the available WWE record as a guide, weighing storyline continuity, stakes, payoff, match quality and significance. Where that record is thin, the entry says so rather than treating a single match as a fully documented rivalry.
How this countdown is ranked
WWE’s year-end material offers useful evidence, not a universal verdict: its Slammy awards named a rivalry winner and nominees, while its match list ranked individual contests. Those distinctions matter. A great match can strengthen a feud, but it does not by itself establish a sustained story. The countdown gives the most weight to arcs with a documented buildup and payoff, while identifying entries whose year-long chronology is less clear in the available WWE accounts.
The 10 best WWE feuds of 2015
1. The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar
WWE named this its 2015 Rivalry of the Year, and also named their Hell in a Cell match Match of the Year. The feud’s return-and-rematch shape made the stakes easy to follow: Undertaker reappeared during Lesnar’s Battleground title match against Seth Rollins, bringing that contest to a no contest; WWE later recorded Undertaker defeating Lesnar at SummerSlam. Their Hell in a Cell meeting was presented by WWE as the “rubber match” and “final battle.” The closing bout and revenge-driven arc make this the strongest overall pick, with the award and descriptions understood as WWE’s own judgments.
2. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks
Their NXT Women’s Championship story paired Bayley’s underdog resolve with Banks’s self-assured champion character, then gave the rivalry two high-profile chapters. WWE ranked their TakeOver: Brooklyn match second on its 2015 top-match list and their TakeOver: Respect rematch tenth. WWE described the Respect bout as the first-ever women’s Iron Man Match and the first time women headlined a WWE special event. Those milestones belong to WWE’s account; the matches’ place in its year-end list shows how strongly the company valued the series.

3. Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose
WWE called their Money in the Bank ladder match the climax of a “brutal, two-year rivalry.” The championship was the focal point of a contest built around improvised weapons and a closing tug-of-war. WWE placed the match at No. 25 on its year-end list, a lower position than several other entries here, but the longer continuity gives the feud a claim beyond one standout bout.
4. John Cena vs. Kevin Owens
The veteran champion against a brash newcomer gave this series an immediate contrast in character and status. Their Elimination Chamber match appeared among WWE’s Match of the Year nominees, and WWE’s Battleground page described the later meeting as a rubber match in which Cena settled the score. WWE’s cited record supports a multi-encounter, high-stakes series; it does not name this feud Rivalry of the Year.

5. Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt
WWE included the rivalry among its Rivalry of the Year nominees. Its Battleground recap presents Wyatt as intent on destroying Reigns and notes Luke Harper’s return to Wyatt’s side before Wyatt won. That is a clear conflict and result, though the cited WWE accounts offer less detail about the full year-long arc than they do for the top entries.
6. Team Bella vs. Team B.A.D. vs. PCB
This was a faction rivalry rather than a one-on-one feud: Team Bella, Team B.A.D. and PCB—short for Paige, Charlotte and Becky Lynch—made the Divas division’s conflict a three-way program. WWE named it a Rivalry of the Year nominee. Its Battleground recap situates the groups in that division and records a representative clash involving Brie Bella, Sasha Banks and Charlotte. The multi-team structure is the defining distinction from the individual rivalries above.

7. John Cena vs. Rusev
WWE listed Cena vs. Rusev as a Rivalry of the Year nominee, which establishes it as one of the company’s recognized contenders. The available WWE accounts here do not provide enough chronology or defining story beats to rank the full feud confidently against the better-documented entries. Its place in this countdown is therefore a nomination-based inclusion, not a claim that the record establishes a particular arc or payoff.
8. Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins
This pairing also appeared among WWE’s Rivalry of the Year nominees. WWE’s year-end results identify their WrestleMania 31 match as an “RKO showcase.” That supports the match as a memorable point in their rivalry, but the cited accounts do not establish the entire feud’s progression in enough detail for a stronger claim about its buildup or conclusion.

9. Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
The WrestleMania 31 main event brought Lesnar and Reigns together in a championship match WWE described as compelling, before Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract. That twist ties the bout to Rollins’s championship story, so it should not be counted as wholly separate from every other Rollins title arc. As a distinct rivalry entry, Lesnar vs. Reigns is best understood through this documented WrestleMania confrontation rather than an unsupported account of a longer feud.
10. Seth Rollins’s connected championship story
Rollins’s year connected several major opponents and title matches. WWE’s year-end list ranked the Royal Rumble triple threat between Brock Lesnar, John Cena and Rollins first; at Battleground, Undertaker’s interference stopped Lesnar vs. Rollins; and at WrestleMania 31, Rollins’s cash-in interrupted Lesnar vs. Reigns. These events form a consequential championship thread, but not a clean, separate tenth feud: they overlap with the Lesnar–Reigns and Undertaker–Lesnar stories already counted. This final slot is consequently a connected story arc, included to acknowledge the season’s interlocking title picture without pretending it is an independent rivalry.

What WWE’s records do—and do not—settle
The official answer to “What was WWE’s best rivalry in 2015?” is Undertaker vs. Lesnar, because WWE’s Slammy results awarded it Rivalry of the Year. WWE’s match rankings also strongly elevated the Bayley–Banks series and the Lesnar–Cena–Rollins Royal Rumble triple threat, but match placement is not a feud ranking. This list is therefore an editorial countdown informed by WWE’s records, not a claim that WWE itself issued a canonical top ten.
