The page says it was updated September 3, 2026. That figure is a publisher’s estimate, not an independently verified balance sheet: the available reporting does not establish Howard’s current assets, debts, or net worth.
How much is Terrence Howard worth?
The most prominent current figure in the cited material is Celebrity Net Worth’s $1 million estimate. The site also lists a $175,000-per-episode salary, but a salary figure and a net-worth estimate measure different things. The estimate page does not provide a calculation that can be checked against a public accounting of Howard’s finances. Celebrity Net Worth
Net worth means assets minus liabilities at a particular point in time. Past acting income, even when reported in large amounts, does not show how much a person retains after taxes, expenses, legal costs, support obligations, and changes in assets or debt. The cited sources do not quantify all of those factors for Howard.
What the reported Empire figures show
Reports about Howard’s compensation on Empire provide historical context, but they are not a calculation of his current wealth. Their figures also differ by source, date, and context.

| Figure | What the reporting says | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| $9,675,000 | The Blast reported in 2018 that a court filing attributed to Michelle Ghent claimed this was Howard’s cumulative Empire earnings by that point. | A reported figure in a court-document dispute, not a verified lifetime earnings statement or net-worth figure. The Blast |
| $125,000 per episode | The Blast’s 2018 account attributed this rate to the show’s first season. | A historical rate reported from the dispute’s documents, not an estimate of money retained. |
| $175,000 per episode | The Blast reported that this was the rate for later seasons at that time. Celebrity Net Worth also lists $175,000 as salary. | The estimate page’s matching figure is not independent confirmation of the original court-document reporting. Celebrity Net Worth |
| $350,000 per episode | The Los Angeles Times reported in December 2023 that Howard said this was his pay in Empire’s final season. | A figure attributed to Howard in the context of his account of compensation. Los Angeles Times |
| $325,000 per episode | MyNewsLA.com reported in July 2026 that Howard’s sworn declaration described Fox as unwilling to raise his compensation beyond this amount in a later negotiation. | A statement attributed to Howard’s declaration, in a different negotiation context from the final-season figure. MyNewsLA.com |
The $350,000 and $325,000 accounts should not be collapsed into one salary figure: one concerns reported final-season pay, while the other describes a later negotiation as recounted in a declaration. Neither figure establishes Howard’s current income or net worth.
What the divorce-support reports do—and do not—establish
CBS/AP reported that a 2012 divorce agreement with Michelle Ghent called for $5,800 in monthly support and potentially as much as $4 million per year, depending on earnings. The report said a California appeals court reinstated the judgment in 2017. These are historical agreement terms; the report does not establish how much was ultimately paid or what Howard’s current obligations are. CBS/AP

What happened in Howard’s case against CAA?
In December 2023, the Los Angeles Times reported that Howard sued Creative Artists Agency, alleging its conduct during Empire salary negotiations harmed his compensation. Allegations in a lawsuit are claims by a party, not automatically established facts.
In August 2026, Complex reported that a judge dismissed the case after finding the claimed financial harm speculative. That reported ruling concerns the lawsuit and the showing of harm in that case; it does not determine Howard’s net worth or validate a particular estimate. Complex

Why salary and net-worth numbers are easy to confuse
- Episode pay is compensation for work under a particular contract or negotiation; it is not the same as total income across a career.
- Cumulative earnings reported in a dispute may refer to a defined project and period, and may be a party’s claim rather than a complete earnings record.
- Net worth requires accounting for assets and liabilities at a point in time. The cited salary and support figures do not supply that accounting.
For that reason, the historical Empire figures and the reported support terms should not be added together, subtracted from one another, or used to independently reconstruct a present-day net-worth number.
