Jason Sudeikis returned as Ted and executive producer, but Apple’s announcement does not identify him—or anyone else—as the sole person who decided the season would happen.
Did Ted Lasso season 4 happen?
Yes. Apple announced in March 2025 that Ted Lasso would return for a fourth season, with Sudeikis reprising his role. Apple’s US listing now states that all season 4 episodes are available. Apple’s series page provides the current catalogue listing.
The season premiered globally on August 5, 2026. Apple announced a new episode every Wednesday through October 7, 2026, completing the scheduled rollout. Apple’s release announcement gives the premiere date and weekly schedule.
Who determined whether the series would return?
The available official announcement does not say that one person alone determined the renewal. Apple announced the season and described its continuing collaboration with Sudeikis and the creative team. The announcement quotes Matt Cherniss, then identified as Apple TV+’s head of programming, saying Apple was “thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”
#1 Best Overall
Sudeikis was a key creative participant: Apple identified him as the returning star and an executive producer. That establishes his central role in the show, but not sole approval authority. Apple’s announcement also names other executive producers and production partners, including Jack Burditt and Bill Lawrence, as well as Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.
What is season 4 about?
Ted returns to Richmond to coach a second-division women’s football team. Apple’s announced premise describes the team learning to take chances it had not previously considered. In its renewal announcement, Sudeikis characterized the season as the people of AFC Richmond learning to “LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK.”
