Ted Lasso season 4 centers on Ted coaching a second-division women’s football team at AFC Richmond. Apple confirmed the premise, and the season premiered August 5, 2026.
What is Ted doing in season 4?
Apple’s official synopsis says Ted returns to Richmond to coach its second-division women’s football team. The women’s team is therefore part of the show’s confirmed season-four story, not just a fan theory. Apple’s season-four announcement describes the premise.
The idea follows a thread from season 3: Keeley proposed forming a Richmond women’s team near the end of that season. The proposal came before it was clear whether the series would return, according to the Associated Press.
When did season 4 come out?
Season 4 premiered on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Apple announced that episodes would arrive weekly on Wednesdays through October 7, 2026. See Apple’s release schedule announcement for the announced dates.

When Apple renewed the series in March 2025, the timing of new episodes and the season’s production status had not yet been announced, the AP reported. The women’s-team storyline also began as Keeley’s proposal in season 3, before the show’s return was settled. Apple later confirmed the premise in January 2026 and announced the premiere date and weekly schedule in April.
