The 22 February 2024 forecast warned that Friday’s opening Taylor Swift show at Sydney’s Accor Stadium faced the greatest weather risk: Olympic Park could reach 36°C, with possible severe afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Saturday was forecast to start unsettled but improve, while Sunday and Monday were expected to be mostly sunny and dry. Those were forecasts at the time—not a current weather alert or confirmation of what happened at the shows.

Which Sydney Eras Tour date had the greatest weather risk?

Friday 23 February 2024 was the main concern in the Bureau of Meteorology forecast reported by 7NEWS on 22 February. The four Accor Stadium shows were scheduled for 23–26 February; the figures below describe the forecast issued ahead of them, not observed conditions.

Date Forecast for Olympic Park What it meant for the show
Friday 23 February High of 36°C, with temperatures still in the 30s around 5 p.m. Increasing cloud, showers and thunderstorms were expected in the afternoon and evening; severe storms could bring localised heavy rain, damaging wind gusts and large hail. Highest stated heat and storm concern, around the evening event.
Saturday 24 February Risk of early thunderstorms, with showers or drizzle lingering before generally dry afternoon and evening conditions. Forecast high 24°C, falling to about 22°C by 8 p.m.; southerly or southwesterly winds could reach 25 km/h. Some unsettled weather was possible early, but the forecast expected improvement by showtime.
Sunday 25 February Morning cloud, then mostly clear; high 27°C and about 22°C by 8 p.m. Mostly clear conditions were forecast; the Bureau spokesperson advised fans to bring sunscreen.
Monday 26 February Dry and mostly sunny; high 28°C and about 24°C by 8 p.m. The forecast was for dry, sunny weather.

The forecast details and comparisons are from 7NEWS’s 22 February 2024 report, which quoted Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson Kate Doyle. Doyle said Friday’s temperatures were expected to remain in the 30s at about 5 p.m. and urged concertgoers to take precautions to stay cool on their way to the venue.

Would the concerts go ahead in rain or storms?

Frontier Touring’s FAQ for the Australian 2024 dates said the show would play rain or shine, with an exception for severe weather that could affect the safety of artists and patrons. It told attendees to follow venue screens and staff instructions in those circumstances. The policy did not mean that every storm would stop a show, nor that a show was guaranteed to proceed through dangerous conditions.

For the event-specific wording, see the Frontier Touring Eras Tour Australia 2024 FAQ. The 7NEWS report said Accor Stadium’s guidance noted that seat coverage varied: only a few rows were uncovered, while the arena floor and stage were exposed. Umbrellas could be brought in, but were not to be opened in the seating bowl for other attendees’ comfort. These details describe the 2024 event; they should not be treated as current venue rules.

What did the event’s crowd and travel plans involve?

The historical logistics matter because weather was only one part of attending a very large event. Sydney Olympic Park listed gates opening at 4:30 p.m. and the show beginning from 6:20 p.m. for each of the four dates. The authority anticipated 300,000 fans across the four nights and advised ticket holders to use public transport. Event tickets included travel, and additional trains and buses were planned. These were arrangements for February 2024, not advice for current travel.

A NSW Government release dated 21 February 2024 expected more than 80,000 fans per night and said more than 1,200 extra public transport services were planned across the dates: more than 700 extra buses and 550 trains. It also described a crowd-management trial using de-identified CCTV, weather information and social media, with operational responses including opening exits, redirecting people, issuing live updates and deploying additional staff.

Digital NSW’s 26 February 2024 retrospective said the technology was used during the concerts to provide anonymous insights into crowd density, mood and flow. It described the system as supporting staff responses to crowd conditions, including weather-related effects.

What should ticket buyers know about scams?

This is a dated public-safety note rather than a current count. On 24 January 2024, Scamwatch said more than 270 people had reported being scammed through fake Taylor Swift ticket sales, with NSW and Victoria particularly affected. It warned about social-media offers from apparently known people, pressure to pay quickly and compromised accounts impersonating their owners. Its advice was to buy through an authorised seller; Sydney Olympic Park identified Ticketek as the only authorised seller for the Australian shows.

Read the dated Scamwatch Taylor Swift ticket scam alert and the Sydney Olympic Park event page for the historical event information.
