Scott Swift underwent quintuple bypass surgery in 2025, according to a July report citing a source close to the Swift family. Taylor Swift later said her father was doing very well, but those comments date to August and October 2025. They do not confirm his health today.
What surgery did Scott Swift have?
ABC News reported on July 16, 2025, that Scott Swift had undergone a successful quintuple bypass more than a month earlier. The outlet attributed the procedure and timing to a source close to the family; it was not an independently verified medical account. ABC reported that Swift was 73 at the time. ABC News, July 16, 2025
Quintuple bypass refers to coronary artery bypass grafting involving five bypasses. ABC News describes bypass surgery, citing the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, as using healthy blood vessels from elsewhere in the body to route blood around blocked arteries and improve blood flow. That general explanation does not establish Scott Swift’s individual diagnosis or clinical details. ABC News
