Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl was a limited theatrical album-debut event for Swift’s twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl—not a standard concert film. Its announced U.S. and Canadian run was October 3–5, 2025, and those screenings have passed.
What was included in the event?
AMC described the program as approximately 89 minutes. It combined the world premiere of Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” music video with behind-the-scenes footage from its shoot, new lyric videos, and previously unseen personal reflections from Swift about songs on the album. Swift described those segments as “cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music,” as reported by Variety on September 19, 2025.
The format was built around the album’s release: it offered a first look at a music video and accompanying material, rather than presenting a full-length concert performance. AMC’s September 19, 2025 announcement gives the program details and announced runtime.
When did it play in theaters?
AMC announced that screenings began at 3 p.m. Eastern on Friday, October 3, 2025, and continued through Sunday, October 5 in the initial release markets. Some international territories were scheduled for later October. These were event dates announced in 2025, not upcoming showtimes.

At announcement, standard U.S. AMC tickets were priced at $12 plus tax; online fees could apply, and premium-format screenings could carry surcharges. That was original event pricing, not a current ticket offer. See AMC’s event announcement for its historical ticketing details.

An international rollout announcement named exhibitors including ODEON, Cineworld, Vue, UGC, CGV, Event Cinemas, HOYTS, Kinepolis, Pathé, CineStar, Helios, Major Cineplex, Nordisk, and UCI, among others. AMC and Piece of Magic said on September 25, 2025 that the rollout was expected to reach more than 110 countries and territories and more than 8,000 cinemas; those were announced forecasts, not independently confirmed final counts. Details appear in their international rollout announcement.
Could audiences sing or dance?
Yes, under the event-specific policy AMC announced for its screenings. The company said guests could sing and dance, although those activities were normally prohibited during traditional showtimes. Swift also wrote, “Dancing is optional but very much encouraged,” according to Variety’s September 19, 2025 report. This was a historical policy for this event, not a general rule for AMC screenings.
