At her July 6, 2024 Eras Tour show in Amsterdam, Taylor Swift folded “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My)” into a three-song surprise-song mashup. Its closing “87” and “89” lyric was widely read as a nod to Travis Kelce, but Swift did not publicly confirm that interpretation in the reporting cited here.

Why the “87” and “89” lyric drew attention
At the close of the mashup, Swift sang the number pair “87” and “89.” People’s report on the performance connected 87 to Kelce’s football jersey number and 89 to Swift’s birth year and her album 1989. That context makes the Kelce reading compelling, but it remains an interpretation of the lyric: the available reporting does not include a direct statement from Swift confirming that she intended it as a reference to him.
Was this the first live performance of “Mary’s Song” in years?
NME described the Amsterdam performance as Swift’s first live performance of “Mary’s Song” since 2008. That is a contemporary report about the song’s performance history, rather than an independently audited record of every setlist.
