Fans were discussing two separate possibilities: resale of existing tickets through Ticketek Marketplace and new ticket allocations from the promoter. Both routes later occurred, including new partially obstructed side-view tickets, but the Australian shows took place in February 2024; neither is a current ticket opportunity.
What happened when official resale was delayed?
On 4 September 2023, PerthNow reported that Ticketek Marketplace resale had been postponed indefinitely. The notice quoted in the report said a new date would be advised and that fans would have time to list tickets before the tour. It did not confirm when resale would open, how many tickets might appear, or how many would have obstructed views. The report’s suggestion that thousands of seats might become available, including at the lowest price point, relied in part on an unnamed source and was not a confirmed allocation. PerthNow reported the delay on 4 September 2023.
Frontier Touring later set a specific opening time for the tour’s official resale: standard-ticket listings on Ticketek Marketplace could begin at 10 a.m. AEDT on Friday, 24 November 2023. The platform accepted standard-ticket listings until noon on the relevant show date. VIP and Hotel + Ticket packages had an earlier listing cutoff, 5 p.m. AEDT on 15 December 2023. These were rules for the completed Australian tour, not current availability. Frontier Touring’s Eras Tour FAQ set out the resale schedule.
Official resale and new ticket releases were different
Resale puts an existing ticket back on sale through an authorised platform. A new release makes additional ticket inventory available through the event’s sales channels. The November 2023 release reported by ABC included new, limited partially obstructed side-view seats; it was not simply the Ticketek Marketplace resale window. ABC also reported a further restricted-view release in February 2024. ABC’s November 2023 guide covered the additional sale, and its February 2024 report covered the later release and ticket scams.

What does partially-obstructed side view mean?
It means that the seat’s angle or an obstruction may prevent you from seeing all of the stage or performance. Frontier Touring warned buyers that they might not be able to see the entirety of the stage and said side screens could be visible in some cases. That is not a promise that screens will be visible from every seat or make up for anything blocked from view. The exact sightline depends on the seat and the staging.
Ticketek’s general guidance says restricted or obstructed seats may have part of the stage or performance hidden by barriers, poles, a side or rear angle, or staging specific to the production. The restriction should be disclosed to buyers, but a general description cannot tell you precisely what a particular seat will look like. Ticketek explains restricted and obstructed seating.
What prices and limits did the November release have?
ABC reported that the limited November 2023 release included tickets across standard price categories and was subject to a four-ticket-per-customer-per-show limit. Its guide listed these event-era prices:
| Reserve category | Price reported by ABC in November 2023 |
|---|---|
| A Reserve | $379.90 |
| G Reserve | $79.90 |
The reported range runs from A Reserve to G Reserve; the figures are historical event prices, not a current offer. The cited guide gives the four-ticket limit per customer per show.
How to interpret the authorised-resale warning
Frontier Touring identified Ticketek Marketplace as the only authorised resale platform for Australian Eras Tour tickets. Its event FAQ warned that unauthorised resale could result in ticket or order cancellation, subject to applicable law. That is a tour-specific statement about the Australian shows, not a universal rule for all events.
For Melbourne, the Victorian Government said the concerts were declared major events under the Major Events Act 2009 and that tickets could not be advertised for resale or resold for more than 10% above their original value. This was a Victorian measure described in a government release on 29 June 2023; it should not be treated as a general Australian resale cap. The Victorian Government outlined the Melbourne measure.

In February 2024, ABC reported losses of more than $183,000 to ACCC Scamwatch since tickets went on sale. The same reporting cited more than 250 Swift ticketing scam reports to Victoria Police and losses exceeding $260,000. Those figures were historical totals reported by ABC in 2024, not current estimates. ABC’s report documented the release and scam figures.
The practical distinction is important: a ticket offered outside the authorised route was not made safe merely by being described as a genuine resale or a restricted-view seat. For this tour, Frontier Touring named Ticketek Marketplace as the authorised platform and warned of possible cancellation for unauthorised tickets.

The story is historical, not a ticket alert
The Australian Eras Tour shows were held in February 2024. Sydney Olympic Park’s event information records the Sydney dates, and the tour’s Australian run is over. Sydney Olympic Park’s event page gives the Sydney event details. The September 2023 delay, the later Marketplace opening, and the additional restricted-view releases explain what fans were responding to at the time; they do not indicate that tickets remain available.
