When and where did Taylor Swift first perform “Dear Reader” live?
The reported live debut took place at Tokyo Dome on February 7, 2024. It was the first of four consecutive sold-out Tokyo Dome shows in Swift’s Japan run. Universal Music Japan’s post-show report and ORICON’s event report cover the concert.
What were the Tokyo surprise songs?
Swift paired “Dear Reader” with “Holy Ground.” Both reports list the songs in the surprise-song section. Setlist.fm reported that Swift introduced “Dear Reader” by saying, “I’ve never played this live before.” Setlist.fm’s concert entry records that introduction.
Was “Dear Reader” played on piano or guitar?
Reports disagree about the accompaniment. Universal Music Japan describes both surprise songs as piano performances, while ORICON says “Dear Reader” was accompanied by acoustic guitar and “Holy Ground” by piano. The available accounts do not establish which instrument Swift used for “Dear Reader.”
