The reported terms also unfold on two different schedules: film work is said to begin in 2026, while the television deal starts at the end of 2028, after his existing Paramount commitments.
What the reported billion-dollar deal covers
TheWrap reported on October 27, 2025, citing two people with knowledge of the agreement, that NBCUniversal’s film and television deal with Sheridan guarantees him more than $1 billion. TheWrap’s follow-up coverage described the reported agreement as worth up to $1 billion, illustrating why the headline figure should be treated as a reported valuation rather than an official NBCUniversal disclosure. The reported package covers both film and television work. The available reporting does not spell out a project list, production quota, specific rights, or which NBCUniversal outlet or platform would carry particular projects. It therefore does not establish that Sheridan has announced a new show for Peacock, NBC, or another service.
When Sheridan’s NBCUniversal deal begins
The reported film and television arrangements do not start together. TheWrap said the film deal begins in 2026 and lasts eight years, while the television arrangement begins at the end of 2028. The Los Angeles Times reported that Sheridan’s overall deal would move to NBCUniversal in 2029; the Associated Press said in October 2026 that his Paramount contract runs through 2028 and that he would then move to NBCUniversal. Is it a game-changer for the entertainment industry?
The scale and length reported make the agreement a high-profile creator deal, and Sheridan’s shift signals that NBCUniversal secured a substantial future commitment across film and television. But the available reporting does not measure its effect on the industry or show that it has changed how competing studios negotiate. Without public contract terms, a disclosed project slate, and comparable details about other creator packages, claims about a new industry standard or a decisive shift in studio power would go beyond what is established.
For a meaningful comparison with another creator agreement, the key questions are whether its value is reported or officially disclosed, whether compensation is guaranteed or tied to output, what film and television work it covers, when the term begins, and which projects or rights are included.
