Taylor Rousseau Grigg, the Texas-based TikTok creator known for Western fashion, lifestyle and shopping content, died on October 4, 2024, at age 25. Her husband, Cameron Grigg, announced her death the following day, describing it as sudden and unexpected after a year in which she had experienced significant pain and suffering.
The cause was not disclosed in the initial announcement. Around October 10–11, a representative for Taylor’s family told TODAY.com that she died from complications related to asthma and Addison’s disease, also known as primary adrenal insufficiency. That description came from the family through a representative; the available public reporting does not include a death certificate, autopsy report, coroner’s report or detailed medical chronology.

What did her husband announce?
On October 5, 2024, Cameron Grigg posted the news of Taylor’s death on Instagram. Contemporary coverage reported that he characterized the death as sudden and unexpected and said Taylor had endured considerable pain and suffering during the preceding year.
According to those reports, Taylor’s body was being kept on life-support machines so that her organs could be donated. Cameron’s announcement also included a GoFundMe appeal connected to the family’s financial hardship. The funeral-home obituary later referred to Taylor’s legacy including the people who received the “gift of life.” Public sources reviewed for this article do not establish how many recipients there were or provide information about transplant outcomes.
What was Taylor Rousseau Grigg’s cause of death?

It is important not to turn that statement into a more specific medical conclusion than the public record supports. No reviewed source says that Taylor died from a particular asthma attack, an adrenal crisis, an infection, a medication error or another precise mechanism. The available reporting also does not establish whether one condition was the underlying cause on a death certificate or explain exactly how the two conditions interacted.
What is Addison’s disease?
Addison’s disease, or primary adrenal insufficiency, occurs when the adrenal glands do not produce enough hormones, particularly cortisol and often aldosterone. Cortisol helps the body respond to physical stress, while aldosterone helps regulate blood pressure and the balance of salt and fluids. In severe circumstances, adrenal insufficiency can lead to a life-threatening adrenal crisis. The Mayo Clinic’s medical overview of Addison’s disease explains the condition and its potential complications.
Those general medical facts provide context only. They do not show that Taylor experienced an adrenal crisis or identify the physiological sequence that led to her death.
What is asthma?
Asthma is a chronic lung disease involving inflammation and narrowing of the airways. Symptoms can include coughing, wheezing, chest tightness and difficulty breathing. Respiratory infections and other triggers can make asthma more serious, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

No public source reviewed here identifies a particular asthma trigger in Taylor’s case. It would therefore be inaccurate to describe her death as the result of a specific attack or infection without additional documentation.
What had Taylor said about her health before her death?
In a social-media video posted in August 2024, Taylor discussed a prolonged period of illness without publicly naming her diagnosis at the time. Reports summarized her comments as saying that she had become much less physically capable, had struggled to walk or carry luggage, and had only recently received what she called a “forever diagnosis.” She also described severe pain and said she had been “fighting for my life every day.”
These statements are evidence of what Taylor publicly described about her own experience, not a complete medical history. They should not be treated as a substitute for clinical records or as proof of a particular complication.
In September 2024, around her 25th birthday, Taylor also shared a reflective message saying that she had chosen to continue living. Because that post involves sensitive mental-health content, it should not be interpreted as evidence of suicidal intent at the time of her death. The available reporting does not establish a connection between the post and the fatal event.

What is confirmed—and what remains unknown?
- Confirmed by the obituary: Taylor’s birth date, age, birthplace, marriage, place of death and scheduled funeral arrangements.
- Announced by her husband: Her October 4 death, the sudden and unexpected nature of the loss as he described it, her preceding suffering, and plans for organ donation.
- Reported by the family through a representative: Complications involving asthma and Addison’s disease.
- Not established by the available sources: A detailed clinical timeline, a specific final mechanism, the presence of an adrenal crisis, a particular asthma trigger, the wording of a death certificate, or the number and outcomes of organ recipients.
That distinction matters because a family-reported cause can accurately communicate the explanation given by relatives while still leaving medical details unavailable to the public. Claims circulating on social media should not be treated as evidence unless they are supported by Taylor’s family or an official medical or legal record.
