T-Mobile’s Apple TV billing change took effect on January 1, 2026—not at some future date. In the U.S., some eligible customers now pay $3 a month for Apple TV, while others may have a six-month free trial that renews at $12.99 a month unless canceled. The change did not end Apple TV access for every T-Mobile customer. Prices and plan details checked August 18, 2026.
What changed on January 1, 2026?
T-Mobile’s earlier “Apple TV+ On Us” wording could make the benefit sound like a permanent free subscription. In practice, offers have varied by plan and promotion. T-Mobile says its billing change took effect January 1, 2026: qualifying customers may receive Apple TV for $3 per month, while some customers are offered a separate six-month trial. These are different arrangements, and neither means that every T-Mobile customer is charged the same amount. T-Mobile’s support page explains the billing change.
T-Mobile’s current offer describes the $3 price as a discount of up to $9.99 per month. It is available only in the United States, requires registration in the Apple TV app and an Apple Media Services account, and is subject to change. Older notices may use the name Apple TV+; Apple’s current consumer pages generally call the service Apple TV. See T-Mobile’s offer terms.
Who pays $3 a month?
T-Mobile lists the $3 benefit for certain versions of Experience More, Experience Beyond, Go5G Next, Magenta MAX, Magenta Plus, and eligible 55+, military, first-responder, accessibility, legacy, or other special plans. Eligibility depends on the specific plan version, account configuration, and maintaining a qualifying line in good standing; a broad label such as “Magenta” or “Go5G” is not enough to confirm eligibility.

Check T-Mobile’s current eligibility FAQ or your account for the plan-specific list. The offer is not a guarantee that the $3 price will remain indefinitely: T-Mobile says features and promotions may change or be discontinued.
Who gets six months free—and what happens afterward?
Some customers on certain Go5G, Magenta, ONE, and related special-rate-plan versions may qualify for six months of Apple TV On Us. This is a time-limited trial, not the ongoing $3 benefit. T-Mobile says the trial automatically renews at $12.99 per month when it ends unless the customer cancels. The exact trial end and renewal date are account-specific, so check them in T-Life or the account used to manage the subscription. T-Mobile’s FAQ lists the trial terms.

For comparison, Apple lists its standard U.S. subscription at $12.99 per month after a seven-day free trial. That is the direct Apple price, not the price every T-Mobile customer pays. Apple’s subscription page shows its current U.S. offer.
How to find out what you are being billed
- Open the T-Life app and go to the account or billing area. Menu names can vary by app version and account type.
- Find the Apple TV subscription or benefit and check the displayed price: $0 may indicate a trial, $3 may indicate the qualifying T-Mobile discount, and $12.99 may indicate a post-trial or standard subscription.
- Review the billing provider and renewal date. If the subscription is not listed in T-Life, check Apple’s subscription settings and your Apple billing records.
- If you do not want the next charge, cancel through the provider that bills you and confirm the resulting status or end date.
T-Mobile says customers can review, update, or remove the subscription through T-Life. Its Apple TV support page has the current account-management guidance. Do not assume a subscription is canceled just because you removed a T-Mobile benefit: a separate Apple-billed subscription or Apple One membership may remain active.

What if you change plans or leave T-Mobile?
The $3 benefit depends on maintaining an eligible plan and qualifying line. If you change plans or cancel wireless service, check T-Life to see whether the benefit remains, and check Apple’s subscription settings for any direct Apple subscription. The available account details—not the plan-family name alone—should determine what is active and who is billing you. Do not assume that ending T-Mobile service automatically cancels a subscription managed by Apple.
Is the $3 benefit worth keeping?
If you watch Apple Originals or want the included sports content, $3 a month is substantially less than Apple’s standard $12.99 monthly price. At those listed monthly rates, that is $36 versus $155.88 over 12 months; the comparison assumes the same rate applies throughout the year and does not establish that every customer qualifies for the T-Mobile offer. If you rarely watch, are nearing the end of a free trial, or already have access through another arrangement, canceling or avoiding a duplicate subscription may make more sense.

Apple TV includes Apple Originals and certain sports programming. Apple’s U.S. materials identify Friday Night Baseball and 2026 Formula 1 and Major League Soccer content. The subscription does not automatically include third-party channel subscriptions or films and shows offered only for rental or purchase. Apple’s offer page describes what is included.
Apple One bundles Apple TV with other Apple services; it is not an Apple TV-only discount. Apple lists U.S. Individual, Family, and Premier plans at $19.95, $27.95, and $39.95 per month, respectively. Consider the bundle only if you also want the other included services. Why the old “free perk” description can be confusing
T-Mobile promoted a one-year Apple TV+ offer for Magenta and Magenta MAX customers in August 2021, then announced Apple TV+ as an ongoing Magenta MAX benefit in August 2022. Those announcements explain why some customers remember the service as free, but they do not establish that every plan or customer had an indefinitely free subscription. 2021 announcement · 2022 announcement.
