In a November 2025 interview, she also said she was working on a 1960 Porsche 356. Her comments document a genuine, practical hobby—but they do not establish a complete or current inventory of her cars.
Can Sydney Sweeney work on cars?
In WIRED’s Autocomplete Interview, published November 14, 2025, Sweeney answered the question directly: “Can Sydney Sweeney work on cars? I can.” She immediately qualified that answer: “I can. I mean, I’m not an expert, I’m still learning.” That distinction matters. Her account describes someone actively learning mechanical skills, not claiming to be a professional mechanic.
Sweeney said she bought a 1969 Ford Bronco through Bring a Trailer and worked on its transmission, changed its drum brakes to disc brakes, rebuilt the interior, and worked on the engine. She credited Rod Emory and people at his shop with teaching and helping her. The interview is a first-person account of the project, not evidence that she completed every repair alone. Read the WIRED interview.
How the Bronco became her defining restoration project
Her Bronco has been central to the public story of her car hobby. In an April 15, 2022 Harper’s Bazaar profile, Sweeney described the 1969 vehicle as her first major restoration. At that interview, she said she had been working on it for about a year and a half and that Rod Emory and his shop had taught and helped her. Those details describe the project at that time; they should not be mistaken for a current status report. Harper’s Bazaar’s 2022 profile.

In Vogue’s 2023 coverage of Syd’s Garage, Sweeney summed up her longstanding attachment to the model: “My Ford Bronco is my dream car. I’ve wanted one ever since I was little.” That makes the Bronco both a personal favorite and a substantial hands-on project, rather than simply a car she mentioned wanting. Vogue’s Syd’s Garage feature.
Which other cars has she discussed?
The vehicles Sweeney has mentioned have different roles and come from different interviews. A project she was working on is not the same as a car she hoped to own, and older profiles should not be combined into a claim about her present-day garage.

On the practical appeal of driving a manual, Sweeney told Entertainment Tonight: “There’s nothing better than feeling like you’re the one in control of a car.” Her account of switching the Bronco to an automatic for Los Angeles daily use also illustrates that a restoration can involve adapting a vehicle to how its owner actually uses it. What is Syd’s Garage?
Syd’s Garage gave Sweeney’s car interest a public-facing outlet. Vogue’s 2023 feature covered Ford “Auto 101” tutorial videos as well as a Ford and Dickies workwear collaboration comprising four utility clothing pieces. The most supportable picture is a hands-on enthusiast learning restoration, especially through the Bronco project, with expert guidance and shop access. Her comments also show interests that extend from vintage sports cars to a potentially practical vehicle for camping. They do not verify the full contents of a current garage, the present status of every project, or a complete ownership list.
