What did Susannah’s letters say in Season 2?
The available Season 2 material does not provide a complete text of Susannah’s letters. It is safest to understand them in the context the season does establish: Susannah’s illness and death shape the grief of both families, while Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah navigate changing relationships and the family’s effort to save the Cousins Beach house. Amazon’s Season 2 announcement outlines those stakes; its retrospective notes that the season begins a year after the first, using flashbacks, with Susannah having died.
That context gives the letters emotional significance, but it is not a substitute for their wording. The reviewed episode transcript source does not supply the letter text, so specific lines or instructions should not be attributed to the show as confirmed dialogue.
Who were the letters for, and did Laurel mix them up?
The show materials reviewed here do not establish a full recipient list or confirm a Season 2 letter mix-up by Laurel. In the novels, a related event occurs at the end of We’ll Always Have Summer: a discussion guide says Jeremiah opens a letter from Susannah that was meant for Conrad. That is useful book context, not proof that Season 2 depicts or explains the same event.

Jenny Han’s series is based on her novels, but an adaptation can change when or how a plot point appears. The distinction matters here: the book guide supports the novel event, while the Season 2 sources do not establish the full contents or delivery details of the letters.
How the letters fit the Season 2 finale
Season 2 ends with Belly choosing Jeremiah. In TIME’s August 18, 2023 interview with Han, the author and co-showrunner said of Belly’s choice, “I think part of what she loves about Jeremiah is his openness and the way he allows her to really see him and love him.” Han also said Jeremiah believes Belly has chosen Conrad when he approaches her, but has made peace with that and still wants to remain in her life.

This finale context helps explain the season’s relationship stakes, but it does not resolve the letters’ full contents. Season 2’s central emotional threads are Susannah’s absence, the brothers’ differing relationships with Belly, and the attempt to preserve the beach house—not a fully disclosed letter-by-letter account.

Season 2 premiered on Prime Video on July 14, 2023, with three episodes, and Amazon’s announcement listed August 18 as the finale date. TIME reported on August 18 that episode 8 had dropped the previous day, August 17. The sources describe release timing differently, so the date of the finale episode should be attributed rather than stated as if every source gives the same schedule.
