After his elimination from Survivor 47, Rome Cooney said Aysha Welch greeted him at Ponderosa with, “Well, it’s about time.” He described her reception as “salty,” but that characterization—and the account of the exchange—comes from Cooney, not from an independent statement by Welch.
What Rome Cooney said happened at Ponderosa
In an interview with Dalton Ross for Entertainment Weekly, published October 24, 2024, Cooney recalled walking downstairs at Ponderosa the morning after his elimination. The other eliminated players were gathered at a table, he said, and Welch spoke first: “Well, it’s about time.” Cooney said the greeting landed poorly given his emotional state. He summed up the reception this way: “It wasn’t a good one, I’ll say that.” Read the interview republished by AOL.
Cooney later characterized Welch as “pretty salty to see me.” That is his interpretation of the moment; the available interview does not include Welch’s account.
Where Cooney finished on Survivor 47
Cooney was voted out in episode six, “Feel the FOMO,” on Day 12. He was the sixth contestant eliminated and finished in 13th place, according to True Dork Times’ season reference page.

How Cooney viewed the vote
Cooney said the elimination was not a total surprise: he had considered the possibility that he would be voted out. In the same post-game interview, he also said that sharing information too openly contributed to his position after the tribes came together. Those comments are his own analysis of his game and the vote, not independent evidence of other contestants’ motives.
