Tevin Davis said he genuinely thought Q Burdette wanted to quit when Q offered himself as the vote at the chaotic Tribal Council that ended Tevin’s run on Survivor 46. But even after watching the episode, Tevin said he could not make sense of Q’s rationale—and did not claim to know whether it was a sincere attempt to leave or a strategy.
Why Tevin thought Q might be serious
In an Entertainment Weekly interview published April 18, 2024, Tevin said that, at Tribal Council, he “genuinely thought he wanted to quit.” Q had asked the tribe to vote him out, but Tevin did not understand what Q meant when he suggested he was partly responsible for what had happened.
Tevin’s response, as he recalled it, was that Q could leave if he wanted to; Tevin was not going to coddle him into staying. Looking back as a viewer, Tevin still could not settle on an explanation: “But then what is his rationale for why he did that? I can’t comprehend it.” The line describes Tevin’s confusion, not proof of Q’s intention.
What happened at the vote
The episode followed Tevin’s role in the vote that sent Soda Thompson home. Liz Wilcox objected to Tevin receiving credit for Soda’s elimination, and Tevin was blindsided at the next Tribal Council. Q put himself forward as a possible boot, but the tribe did not take him up on it. Tevin was voted out, with Hunter McKnight the only player who stayed with him, according to Entertainment Weekly’s account.

True Dork Times’ season record lists Tevin as the second juror, voted out in episode 8, “Hide and Seek,” on day 16. It records the vote as 8–2 and includes Q among those voting against Tevin.
Why Tevin resisted Q’s plan for Venus
Tevin also described a conversation that shaped his choices before that Tribal Council. He said Q pulled him aside after an immunity challenge and told him to vote for Venus. Tevin initially considered it, but then pushed back because he felt Q was directing the group and might later claim he had run the game. Tevin said that resistance helped keep Venus from going home that night, although she had initially been his target.

Tevin said he did not regard Soda as a dependable ally: he believed Soda and Venus were close, and described weighing his trust in Soda and Maria. He also said some context behind those calculations did not make it into the episode. These are Tevin’s explanations of his decisions, not independently established accounts of what other players intended.

Tevin drew a distinction between experiencing the game and watching the finished episode. “The thing about the game is that watching Survivor and playing Survivor are two different sports,” he told Entertainment Weekly’s Dalton Ross. At Tribal Council, Tevin had only the information and interactions available to him in the game. Watching later did not make Q’s explanation clearer to him.

That leaves the central question open: Tevin believed Q might truly want to leave in the moment, but he could not say whether Q was serious or pursuing another plan. The interview records Tevin’s reaction; it does not establish Q’s motive.
