What was reported about Suri Cruise’s prom?
ELLE Japan reported on June 20, 2024, that Suri had been photographed with friends in New York before her LaGuardia High School prom. Sky TG24 published a further account on June 24, describing the event as shortly before her high-school graduation.
Sky TG24 identified a male companion as Toby Cohen, but credited the Daily Mail for that identification. Neither report amounts to direct confirmation from Suri or Cohen that he was her boyfriend or prom date. The careful distinction is that coverage described her with a companion; the relationship label was reported, not confirmed by the people involved.
What do reports establish about Tom Cruise’s presence?
The prom reports do not establish whether Tom Cruise attended. His absence from the event should not be inferred from later coverage about his relationship with Suri. Those are separate claims, reported at different times.

In a 2013 deposition, Cruise rejected the claim that he had abandoned Suri. The Daily Beast later quoted him saying: “The assertion that I ‘abandoned’ Suri after my divorce is patently false. I have in no way cut Suri out of my life, whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise.” That is his statement at the time of the deposition; it does not by itself describe the family’s relationship years later.
Were reactions to the prom appearance really “mixed”?
A Reddit discussion from June 2024 includes individual comments about Suri’s appearance and the media attention around her. Those remarks show that commenters responded in different ways, but a thread is not a representative poll or a reliable measure of public opinion. The available evidence supports describing examples of online commentary, not claiming a general consensus or quantifying reactions.

How the later Suri Noelle reports fit in
Reports published in July 2026 discussed Suri Noelle, a name appearing in voter-record information. EL PAÍS reported that an Allegheny County record accessed by People and Page Six listed Suri Noelle in October 2024. This later reporting does not change the date of the prom: the event was covered in June 2024.
The record reporting does not establish Suri’s private reasons for using that name or document a legal name-change process. Nor do the reviewed reports establish why she and her father are described as distant. EL PAÍS also quoted Katie Holmes’s April 2023 Glamour interview: “Lo realmente importante para mí con mi hija, debido a que ella desde pequeña ha estado expuesta, ha sido protegerla” (“The really important thing for me with my daughter, because she has been exposed since she was little, has been protecting her.”) That comment reflects Holmes’s stated approach to protecting her daughter; it does not explain the reported estrangement.
