On 19 November 2024, it allowed his appeal and directed that, if arrested in the specified FIR, he be released on bail subject to conditions. Neither order determined whether the criminal allegations were true.
What the Supreme Court ordered
In Siddique v. State of Kerala, Criminal Appeal No. 4625 of 2024, the Supreme Court considered Siddique’s challenge to the Kerala High Court’s rejection of anticipatory bail. The case concerned Crime No. 1192 of 2024, registered on 27 August 2024 at Museum Police Station, Thiruvananthapuram City, under Sections 376 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. The Supreme Court’s judgment, reported as 2024 INSC 877, was decided by Justices Bela M. Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma on 19 November 2024. Supreme Court judgment.
The Court allowed the appeal and ordered that, if Siddique was arrested in connection with that FIR, he be released on bail. The trial court could impose conditions. The judgment specifically directed him to deposit his passport with the trial court and cooperate with the investigating officer; it also stated that breach of release conditions could lead to cancellation of bail.
How the September and November orders differ
The 30 September order was interim protection from arrest while the Supreme Court considered Siddique’s challenge to the Kerala High Court order of 24 September 2024. The later judgment of 19 November allowed the appeal and set out conditional anticipatory-bail relief. These were separate procedural stages, not two descriptions of the same order. What the judgment says about the allegations and its reasoning
The judgment recounts an allegation that an incident occurred in 2016. It also records that the complainant had posted allegations of sexual abuse against about 14 people, including Siddique, on Facebook around 2018. These are details of the court record, not findings that the alleged conduct occurred.
The Court said, “we deem it appropriate not to assign elaborate reasons.” It identified the approximate eight-year interval between the alleged incident and complaint, the reported Facebook post, and the complainant’s not having approached the Justice Hema Committee among its considerations for granting relief. Those stated considerations explain the bail decision; they are not a finding that the complainant was untruthful, nor a general rule that delay determines such cases.

What the order does not decide
- It is not an acquittal and does not resolve the criminal allegations.
- It applies to the specified FIR and makes release conditional on arrest and compliance with bail conditions.
- It does not establish that the investigation or criminal case ended.
The later trial or appellate status was not verified as of 8 October 2026, so the 2024 judgment should not be treated as a statement of the case’s complete current status.
