Superman and Homelander face off in DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1, a February 2026 one-shot tied to DC’s DC K.O. event. It is not the opening issue of the main series: the matchup is part of a multiversal side story that brings characters from outside DC into the event.
Where to read Superman vs. Homelander
The encounter is in DC K.O.: Boss Battle #1, not DC K.O. #1. DC announced the one-shot for February 4, 2026, and promoted Homelander versus Superman as a featured matchup. The announcement listed U.S. cover prices of $4.99 for the main cover, $5.99 for card-stock variants, and $7.99 for the foil variant; those are announced prices, not current retailer quotes. DC’s announcement has the issue details.

How the fight fits into DC K.O.
The main DC K.O. storyline is a tournament to determine which hero will become champion and face Darkseid. DC’s description of DC K.O. #1 says the Heart of Apokolips corrupts those who approach it, raising the stakes as contestants fight for the chance to confront him. The main series began with issue #1, announced for October 8, 2025. DC’s issue page gives the series premise.
#1 Best Overall
Boss Battle extends that tournament beyond the usual DC cast. DC described the heroes as facing increasingly difficult boss fights across the multiverse to prepare for the final contestant brackets; failure to level up could leave them at a disadvantage. In a February 9, 2026 editorial, DC placed the one-shot after DC K.O. #3 and identified Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, and Joker as the final four contestants at that point. The editorial’s account of the matchup supplies that event context.
Why it is called a cross-company battle royale
“Cross-company” describes a licensed-character crossover: DC’s event brings figures from other properties into its story. It does not mean publishers are competing against one another in a separate corporate contest. Alongside Homelander, DC named challengers including Sub-Zero, Red Sonja, Vampirella, Samantha Strong, Annabelle, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch in its announcement.
Rank #2
The phrase “battle royale” points to the larger tournament framework, while the Superman–Homelander encounter is one of the multiversal boss fights attached to it. The distinction matters if you are choosing a starting point: Boss Battle #1 is the direct issue for the matchup; DC K.O. #1 introduces the central tournament premise.

Writer Jeremy Adams described the fight in DC’s January 7 announcement with promotional enthusiasm: “My only regret is that I didn’t have more pages to show these guys punch and kick…and for Superman to tell Homelander to shut his potty mouth before launching him into the sun!” That is Adams’s comment about the intended spectacle, not an independent review of the finished issue.
