Spoilers for Superman & Lois season 4, episode 4, “A Perfectly Good Wedding.” Clark is back, but his return comes with a physical cost: General Sam Lane’s heart cannot give him the strength of his original Kryptonian one. Clark returns, but his recovery is incomplete
After General Sam Lane’s super-powered heart is placed inside him, Clark reunites with Lois, Jordan, and Jonathan. The family’s joy is real, but Clark has not simply returned to his former condition. He discovers that his 60-year-old human heart is weaker than his original Kryptonian heart.
Jonathan sees the limitation firsthand
During a flying lesson with Jonathan, Clark’s reduced ability becomes apparent. He initially tries to keep the problem from Lois while she is busy preparing for Kyle and Chrissy’s wedding. His survival therefore brings a new adjustment for the family, rather than an immediate return to normal.
Why do Kyle and Chrissy cancel the wedding?
The wedding plans unravel after Chrissy’s intimidating future mother-in-law visits and the couple lose their venue. Lois offers the Kent farm as an alternative, but Kyle and Chrissy decide to slow down and call off the ceremony. The gathering continues as a party, and the episode gives space to their blended family; when Chrissy panics, she turns to Sarah for support.

Do Kyle and Chrissy get married in this episode?
No. They do not exchange vows in “A Perfectly Good Wedding.” They cancel the ceremony but still celebrate with their family and friends. Reading the choice as a pause amid a chaotic day is an interpretation of the events, not a stated explanation from the couple or the creators.
What does the “Superman Lives!” ending mean?
In the closing scene, Lois and Clark finally get time alone. They do not see the news alerts appearing on their phones: “Superman Lives!” The alerts signal that word of Clark’s return is reaching the public, shifting the story from a private family reunion toward the consequences of his return becoming known.

What the episode sets up
