A November 2025 report by GamesRadar+ said images circulating online from a Pillsbury cookie box showed a new render of Yoshi, along with artwork it identified as the Cosmic Observatory and Bowser Jr. graffiti. The packaging is reported leak material—not imagery authenticated by Nintendo.
What the cookie-box leak reportedly showed
In its November 10, 2025 report, GamesRadar described the cookie packaging as offering the best look at Yoshi available at that point. The report also identified imagery of the Cosmic Observatory, a location from Super Mario Galaxy, and graffiti depicting Bowser Jr. Those details should be read as GamesRadar’s observations of the circulating packaging images, not as confirmed movie plot points or an official character announcement.
What Nintendo has officially confirmed
Nintendo’s September 12, 2025 announcement named the film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and described it as an animated movie based on the world of Super Mario Bros. The announcement also connected Yoshi to the games: Super Mario Galaxy 2 features Yoshi as Mario’s companion. That game connection provides context for Yoshi’s place in the Galaxy setting, but it does not verify what appeared on the cookie box.
Nintendo initially listed a worldwide theatrical release beginning April 3, 2026. Later, on January 25, 2026, TheWrap reported that Universal had released a trailer featuring Yoshi and moved the film’s release to Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The April 1 schedule is the later date reported by TheWrap; it is not the date in Nintendo’s September announcement.

Later Yoshi sightings are separate from the leak
The trailer reported by TheWrap is subsequent context: it offers a distinct, later look at Yoshi and does not establish that the earlier cookie-package images were official. Likewise, Nintendo Life reported on March 19, 2026 that McDonald’s North America had revealed 12 movie-character keychains for a Happy Meal promotion expected to begin March 26, including Yoshi. That report documents a planned promotion at the time, not current availability or stock.

Nintendo announced a combined physical Nintendo Switch edition, Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is a straightforward way to explore the game world behind the movie’s name and Yoshi’s role in the second game; it is not evidence for the leak. Nintendo listed the edition at a regular price of $69.99 in its September 2025 announcement, a dated listed price rather than a guarantee of today’s price or availability.
